SANJOIN T-388 Kids Walkie Talkies, 22 Channels and 99 Subchannels

Some outdoor play calls for simple back-and-forth communication, other games benefit from more channel choices. The SANJOIN T-388 gives kids a push-to-talk way to stay in contact during camping, hiking, and group activities.

This two-unit set is designed for children ages 3–12. Its lightweight ABS housing and easy-to-use button make it accessible for hands-on play, while the stated maximum range is 3 miles.

With 22 main channels and 99 subchannels, the radios offer options for coordinating play. They use 12 AAA batteries in total, and the listed average battery life is 10 hours.

Key takeaways

The T-388 combines a straightforward push-to-talk control with 22 channels and 99 subchannels. That gives children a simple way to communicate while playing together, without needing to keep a phone in hand. The advertised 3-mile range is suited to outdoor activities such as camping and hiking, where kids may be moving around a shared play area.

The set contains two walkie-talkies, so children can start using them as a pair. The radios are made with ABS plastic and have an ergonomic design intended to fit comfortably in children’s hands. Adjustable volume and an auto-squelch function are also listed, helping make conversations easier to follow in busy settings.

For a quick pretend-play activity, a basic push-to-talk toy may be enough. The T-388 is a fit for families who also want multiple channel and subchannel options for coordinating group play. It is compatible with SANJOIN walkie-talkies on the same frequency band and channels.

Practical tips

Set aside 12 AAA batteries for the two radios and choose a channel before play begins so children know where to communicate. The product lists an average battery life of 10 hours, buyers’ feedback on battery use is mixed, with some reporting that the radios use batteries quickly. Keeping spare batteries available can help maintain a planned outing without interrupting play.

Buyers commonly describe the walkie-talkies as fun and say their performance exceeded expectations. Feedback about reliability is mixed, however, and some buyers say their units did not work for them. These experiences are useful context when choosing a toy for regular outdoor use.

Usage tips

For camping, hiking, or backyard games, agree on a main channel and subchannel before children spread out. The radios use RF communication, and matching channels are necessary when communicating with compatible SANJOIN walkie-talkies. The push-to-talk control keeps the interaction direct: press to speak, then release to listen.

The lightweight size—0.9 inches deep, 2.1 inches wide, and 5.7 inches high—supports handling by children during active play. The ABS housing is described as sturdy for drops and rough handling, and the set is designed for ages 3–12. Adult help with battery installation can make setup easier for younger children.

When it makes sense

Choose the SANJOIN T-388 for children who enjoy communicating during shared outdoor games and for families looking for a two-radio set with multiple channel options. Its simple controls, 3-mile stated maximum range, and compact, lightweight design make it a practical companion for camping, hiking, and imaginative play. It also suits group activities where children can agree on a channel and keep in touch as they move around.
