Polk Audio Monitor XT60 MXT60 Tower Speaker, Dolby Atmos Compatible

A 1-inch tweeter, a 6.5-inch dynamically balanced woofer, and two 6.5-inch passive radiators give the Polk Audio Monitor XT60 a three-part speaker design for home theater and music. Its floorstanding format makes it a practical choice when you want a dedicated tower speaker rather than a bookshelf-style setup. Use one speaker as a focused addition to your system, or build toward a matched surround sound arrangement with other Monitor XT models.

Where it shines

The MXT60 is designed for movies, TV, and music listening, with compatibility for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Auro 3D. Its tweeter and woofer handle different parts of the audio range, while the passive radiators contribute to the speaker’s bass response. That combination suits a living room where you want a standalone tower for everyday TV and music, as well as a home theater where speakers work together for surround sound.

Buyers often highlight the sound quality, particularly clear, detailed mids and highs, and some also appreciate the speaker’s appearance and size. Those impressions can help set expectations for what owners value, while the documented driver design and format compatibility explain how the speaker fits into a system. If your priority is adding one floorstanding speaker, the MXT60 offers that route, if your plan is a more complete surround setup, Polk’s timbre-matched Monitor XT speakers provide a path to expand the system.

What matters most

This is a single speaker in Midnight Black, not a pair. The 1-inch tweeter, 6.5-inch dynamically balanced woofer, and two 6.5-inch passive radiators are the key components to consider when comparing tower speakers for a TV or music room. The MXT60 is Hi-Res Audio certified and supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Auro 3D formats, making it a fit for compatible home theater equipment and high-resolution listening sources.

For a matched system, the Monitor XT range includes bookshelf, center-channel, height-module, and subwoofer models. Adding those speakers can help create a coordinated home theater setup, while choosing the MXT60 on its own keeps the purchase focused on a single tower. It makes sense if you want a floorstanding speaker that can serve both movie and music listening, with the option to expand using timbre-matched models from the same series.

Tips for day-to-day use

The included rubber feet are designed for carpet and hardwood floors, supporting stable placement across those common surfaces. Position the tower where it can serve your listening area, then connect it as part of a wired home theater or stereo setup. Its floorstanding design is useful when you want a dedicated speaker location without mounting a speaker to the wall.

Is it worth it?

The Polk Audio Monitor XT60 is a considered choice for listeners who want one black floorstanding speaker for TV, movies, and music, with a defined driver array and support for several immersive audio formats. It also suits buyers planning a broader home theater system, since it can be combined with other timbre-matched Monitor XT speakers. Choose it when a tower speaker is the right fit for your room and listening setup.
