Merax Queen Upholstered Platform Bed with Storage Bench, Cream Velvet

The padded wingback headboard gives this queen platform bed a comfortable backrest for reading or relaxing, while the matching storage bench adds a place to sit or keep bedroom items. Its slat-and-metal support system is designed to hold a mattress without a box spring.

The cream velvet upholstery and classic shape suit a bedroom where the bed and bench are meant to work as a coordinated set. If you want a straightforward mattress foundation, a basic frame may be enough, this set makes more sense when the upholstered look and bench are part of the plan.

The frame combines wooden slats with metal support bars, and the manufacturer describes the headboard as padded with horizontal stitching. That gives the set a more finished, upholstered appearance than a bare platform frame, while the storage bench provides an additional piece of furniture rather than storage built into the bed itself. The listed dimensions are useful when planning the layout, but allow for the bench’s placement as well as the bed’s footprint.

Tips for day-to-day use

The platform design lets a compatible mattress sit directly on the frame, without adding a box spring. The product information names memory foam, latex, and spring mattresses as supported types and recommends a mattress 10–12 inches thick. Check that range against the mattress you plan to use before choosing this set.

The padded headboard can be useful when sitting up to read, and the bench can serve as a seat or a spot for bedroom storage. Its listed capacity is 220 lbs, so treat that as a limit rather than assuming it functions like a full-size sofa. You’ll appreciate it if you want the bed and bench to share one coordinated look and prefer not to use a box spring. It’s not for you if you need furniture that arrives ready to use without assembly, both pieces require assembly.

In the box

This is described as a two-piece queen bed and matching storage bench set. The listed included components are the headboard and installation manual. Assembly is required for both the bed and ottoman, so plan for setup before the room is ready for use. The available details do not list every included fastener or tool, so they should not be assumed to come with the set.

When it makes sense

Choose this Merax set when a queen platform bed, upholstered wingback headboard, and matching storage bench fit your room and furnishing needs. It’s a more complete furnishing approach than buying a simple bed frame alone, especially if you want a coordinated bench and a mattress setup that does not call for a box spring. If you only need a foundation and have no use for the bench or upholstered styling, a simpler frame may be a better match. The practical decision is whether those added pieces and the assembly work are worth accommodating in your space.
