Kasa indoor security camera EC60

Key specifications

The Kasa EC60 pairs subscription-free local storage with motion and sound alerts, giving you a way to keep watch without making cloud service the only recording option. It records in 1080p, offers night vision up to 30 feet, and supports two-way audio for checking in on a room from your phone.

It’s a wired indoor camera, so placement depends on having a suitable spot for its connection. Local recording uses a MicroSD card with support for up to 64 GB, cloud storage and up to 30 days of video history are available through a Kasa Care subscription.

Who it’s for

This camera fits everyday home monitoring, including keeping an eye on a pet while you’re away or checking a nursery from another room. Motion and sound alerts can help you notice activity as it happens, while motion tracking and two-way audio add ways to follow or respond to what’s going on. You can also set up to four activity zones, which is useful when you want alerts focused on particular areas rather than every movement in view.

A solid pick if you want an indoor camera with local recording and basic ways to check in remotely. It might not be a great match if you need outdoor coverage, wireless placement, or local storage beyond the stated 64 GB limit.

Everyday use

For example, you could set an activity zone around a pet’s usual spot, then check a phone alert when the camera detects movement or sound. In a dark room, infrared night vision is rated for up to 30 feet. Two-way audio gives you a way to speak through the camera, though the listing doesn’t specify how clear that audio is or how motion tracking behaves in different rooms.

The EC60 can also work with Alexa or Google Assistant for voice control on compatible devices. Smart Actions can link camera-detected motion with other Kasa devices, such as turning on lights. That makes it more useful if you already use those devices, shoppers looking for a standalone camera may not need the added smart-home connections.

Before you decide

Does the camera require a subscription? No subscription is required for local storage on a MicroSD card. Kasa Care is optional and provides cloud features, including up to 30 days of video history.

How far does night vision reach? The listed infrared night-vision range is up to 30 feet.

Can I set alerts for specific areas? The camera supports up to four customizable activity zones. The listing also describes alerts for detected motion or sound.

When it makes sense

Choose the EC60 if you want a wired indoor camera for a room, pet area, or nursery, and value having local recording as an alternative to a subscription. Its 1080p video, activity zones, alerts, and two-way audio cover practical monitoring needs without requiring cloud storage. Keep its limits in mind: local MicroSD support tops out at 64 GB, and longer cloud history depends on a paid Kasa Care plan. If you need outdoor coverage, a wireless setup, or more local storage, a different camera configuration would be a better fit.
