Tips for day-to-day use
Use the CD when you want a focused listen to the show’s original Broadway cast rather than a playlist of unrelated pop tracks. It works for a relaxed listening session at home, or as a way to revisit the musical’s music between performances. The 1 hour and 14 minute runtime gives you a clear sense of the time needed for a full play-through.
If you are choosing between a cast recording and a collection of standalone pop songs, this release centers the music in its Broadway production context. Why it’s worth it
The appeal is the combination of pop songwriting and a Broadway cast performance. Max Martin is credited for the music and lyrics, while the production’s music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements are credited to Bill Sherman. These credits offer useful context for listeners looking for a theatrical recording rather than a conventional pop album.
Buyers describe the musical and music positively, and they call out the song selection and its fun pop sound. Some also appreciate hearing the songs performed by the original cast. Those reactions make the CD especially relevant for listeners who value both the songs and the performers connected to the Broadway production.
The recording also suits a Broadway collection: it identifies the production and cast in its title, so it is easy to distinguish from a general pop release. For a listener new to the musical, the CD provides a straightforward way to spend time with its music, for a fan, it keeps the original Broadway cast performance in a physical audio format.
