EHEYCIGA Dog Crate Cover 42-Inch

A wire crate in a bright room or near a drafty doorway can feel exposed, especially when your dog is trying to settle. The EHEYCIGA cover adds shade and a more enclosed feel while leaving mesh areas for airflow and visibility.

It’s sized for 42-inch cages and measures 42L x 28W x 30H inches. The cover is sold on its own, the crate is not included.

If you prioritize a more sheltered kennel, the covered panels are the point. If you prefer an open crate with an unobstructed view on every side, a cover may not suit your setup.

Getting the most from it

Place the cover over a compatible wire crate, then secure the elastic toggles at the bottom corners. The front and side zippered panels are designed to work with different door positions, so you can open the side your crate uses instead of fighting the fabric. Three mesh windows provide visibility and airflow, and the description says a window can be closed to block wind in colder weather.

For example, you could zip the front panel down for a quieter-feeling nap space, then open a mesh area when you want more airflow and a view outside the crate. That gives you some control over how enclosed the kennel feels, rather than covering every opening in the same way. The mesh and panels can also help create a more sheltered spot indoors or during travel, though the cover itself won’t determine whether your dog feels comfortable in a crate.

Why it’s worth it

The useful distinction here is between a bare wire crate and one with adjustable coverage. Heavy-duty 600D polyester Oxford fabric is treated for water resistance and UV protection, while the design also aims to shield against wind and rain. That combination makes the cover relevant for everyday use where sun or weather exposure is a concern. It can also make a crate feel less visually open, without giving up all access to mesh windows.

The front-and-side zipper layout is a practical feature if your crate’s entry isn’t in the same place as the cover’s main opening. Still, the stated fabric treatment does not tell you how much rain it can handle or how long it will last outdoors. Treat it as a cover with weather-resistant features, not as a guarantee that a kennel or dog will stay dry in every condition.

Key takeaways

The listed dimensions are 42L x 28W x 30H inches, and the cover is intended for most standard 42-inch wire crates. A 42-inch label can describe different crate proportions, so fit is less certain without that measurement. Compare your cage’s dimensions and door positions with the cover before choosing it, the product information does not establish compatibility with every crate.

Worth considering if you want adjustable shade and a more den-like setup while keeping mesh visibility. It’s not for you if you need a complete kennel, want a fully open crate, or need a confirmed fit for a cage whose dimensions differ from those listed.

When it makes sense

This cover makes the most sense when you already have a compatible wire crate and want to change how exposed it feels, rather than replace it or add a separate enclosure. The zippered panels and mesh windows give you options for access and airflow, while the fabric’s stated water and UV resistance may be useful around sun and light weather exposure.

A simpler open-crate setup may be preferable if airflow and an all-around view matter more than shade or privacy. For a more demanding outdoor setup, the available information doesn’t specify a rain rating or other performance measurements, so those needs call for more detail than this listing provides. Check the cage’s actual dimensions and entry layout first, if they align with the cover, its adjustable openings are the main reason to choose it.
