EASY TO BUY HARD TO SEL by Sleep Eazys, Vinyl LP Tribute to Danny Gatton

For listeners looking for a vinyl release shaped by blues, rockabilly, jazz, and country, EASY TO BUY HARD TO SEL brings those styles together in a tribute to guitarist Danny Gatton. The album is a 2020 vinyl LP release by the Sleep Eazys. Joe Bonamassa produced it and is part of the group. It suits a different listening goal from a single-artist guitar release: hearing an ensemble interpret music in honor of an influential player.

Technical overview

The Sleep Eazys lineup on the album includes Joe Bonamassa, Anton Fig, Michael Rhodes, Reese Wynans, and John Jorgenson, with special guests appearing throughout. That combination gives the release an ensemble focus, while the tribute places Gatton’s musical legacy at its center. The album celebrates the distinctive style he developed by bringing blues, rockabilly, jazz, and country together.

This is a vinyl LP pressing, so it’s a format-centered choice for listeners who want a physical record rather than a digital-only album. The production credit belongs to Joe Bonamassa. Together, the format, lineup, and tribute concept make the record relevant both as a vinyl addition and as a way to explore music connected to Gatton’s cross-genre guitar style.

Practical tips

Choose this release when you want to add an album on vinyl to a collection organized around guitar-driven music or tributes to influential musicians. Its LP format makes it a natural fit for a vinyl listening setup, while the blues, rockabilly, jazz, and country influences offer a clear direction for where it belongs in a collection. If you’re choosing between a record focused on one artist’s own catalog and an ensemble tribute, this album takes the tribute approach: its subject is Danny Gatton, and its performers are the Sleep Eazys with special guests.

The listed performers and musical influences can also help guide a gift choice. It’s particularly relevant for someone interested in Joe Bonamassa, the Sleep Eazys lineup, or the meeting of blues, rockabilly, jazz, and country. The tribute context gives the record a specific subject beyond its format, making it easier to select for a listener who follows guitarists and their musical influences.

Best use cases

For a vinyl collection, this release brings together a defined group of musicians and a tribute to Danny Gatton in one LP. It can sit alongside blues and roots-oriented records, or with albums chosen for their connections between musical styles. The blend of influences is a useful cue for listeners who enjoy moving between genres rather than keeping a collection limited to one category.

It also works as a starting point for exploring Gatton’s influence through an album produced by Joe Bonamassa and performed by the Sleep Eazys, with special guests appearing throughout. Listeners familiar with Bonamassa can approach it through his role as producer and band member, those drawn to Gatton can focus on the tribute and the styles associated with his music. In either case, the vinyl format keeps the choice grounded in a physical LP rather than a digital release.

Buying verdict

EASY TO BUY HARD TO SEL is a clear fit for listeners seeking a vinyl tribute to Danny Gatton, especially those drawn to music spanning blues, rockabilly, jazz, and country. Its defined ensemble, Joe Bonamassa’s production credit, and LP format give it a specific place in a guitar-focused collection or as a considered gift for a fan of these musicians and styles.
