DR.ÖTEK Metal Detector Pinpointer
Product description
A handheld pinpointer serves a different purpose from a detector meant to scan broad stretches of ground: it helps narrow down where a metal target is once you’re searching in a small area. The DR.ÖTEK combines 360° detection with an LCD signal-strength display and three alert modes, giving you several ways to locate a target in a hole, among roots, or in a crack. Its waterproof rating also suits wet outdoor searches, though its stated detection depth is limited to up to 3.15 inches.
Key specifications
This is a handheld metal detector pinpointer with an LCD screen that displays target signal strength. Its probe is described as detecting from any angle, rather than requiring you to sweep one particular side across a target. Three alert settings are listed: vibration, audio, and audio plus vibration. A one-touch interference-canceling feature is intended to reduce random beeps, which may be useful when you’re trying to distinguish a signal while searching.
The listing specifies IP68 waterproofing and submersion up to 9.8 feet. That makes it relevant for beach or river searches as well as rainy conditions, provided you stay within the stated limit. Detection depth is listed as up to 3.15 inches, but the product information does not give testing conditions or explain how depth changes with target size or ground, without that measurement, treat the figure as a stated maximum, not a guaranteed result in every search.
Who it’s for
This model is aimed at adults and kids who want a compact tool for checking a focused patch of ground rather than sweeping a large area. For example, after a wider search turns up a signal, you could use the wand to work around the sides of the hole and narrow down where a coin or small piece of jewelry is hiding. The 360° detection design is useful in tight spots where turning the probe to find the right angle may be awkward.
It makes sense if you want a portable pinpointer with visual signal feedback and the option to use vibration instead of sound. The textured rubber handle is intended to provide a steadier grip, and the compact design is described as easy to carry in a pocket or backpack. Not the best choice if your main need is to cover open ground quickly or detect targets well beyond the stated reach, this is a pinpointing wand, not a substitute for a broad-area search tool.
Everyday use
Choose the alert mode to suit the surroundings: vibration can be useful when you prefer a quieter alert, while audio or both alerts may be easier to notice outdoors. The LCD’s signal-strength display adds another cue as you move the probe around a target. After a first beep, you can change your angle and search across the probe tip, rather than relying on a single detection side.
The listing does not specify battery details or what accessories come with the wand, so those points cannot be assessed from the available information. Its advertised waterproofing is a practical advantage for wet searches, but the stated submersion limit still matters, it should not be treated as unrestricted underwater equipment.
Before you decide
What does the LCD show? The product description says it displays the target’s signal strength. It does not say that the screen identifies the type of metal.
Can it be submerged? It is listed as IP68 and submersible up to 9.8 feet. The description does not provide a duration for submersion.
What alert options are available? You can select vibration, audio, or audio plus vibration. The listing also describes one-touch interference cancellation, but gives no further detail on its operation.
Final verdict
The DR.ÖTEK is a practical fit for someone who wants help locating a signal in a small, awkward area, with the added flexibility of three alerts and a stated waterproof rating. Its strongest case is focused searching after a target has already been detected. Skip it if you need a tool for covering large areas or expect dependable detection beyond the listed 3.15-inch maximum, the description does not establish how that depth performs across different targets or conditions.
