Cattle Prod, 37-Inch Retractable

Moving cattle through a gate, shifting sheep between pens, or guiding hogs in a dim barn calls for a tool you can carry and extend when needed. This rechargeable cattle prod combines a telescoping pole with a built-in LED light, so it is designed for livestock handling where reach and visibility matter. It retracts to 12.5 inches for carrying and extends to 37 inches for use. The listing describes its signal as low intensity, but that description alone cannot guarantee how an animal will respond.

Best use cases

The extendable design is intended for directing cattle, pigs, and sheep during routine herding, rather than relying only on a short handheld tool. For example, while guiding an animal toward a pen entrance, you can keep the handle in your hand and extend the pole to create more distance between you and the animal. The built-in LED is a practical addition for low-light work, such as checking animals or moving them around a dim barn, it does not replace adequate lighting or safe handling practices.

You’ll appreciate it if you need one tool that can be carried at its shorter length and extended when a little more reach is useful. The product description says it can reach cows up to 70 inches, though that claim is not the same as a measurement of the pole itself. Without having tried it, the handling experience and how comfortably the telescoping sections lock in place cannot be confirmed from the supplied details.

Product specs

The cattle prod has a retractable design, measuring 12.5 inches when shortened and extending to 37 inches. It runs on a rechargeable battery, the listing states a full recharge takes 3 hours and claims more than 20 days of use for herding cows. Actual time between charges may depend on how often it is used, and no battery capacity is provided.

It also includes an LED light and is described as waterproof for use in drizzle or damp conditions. That does not mean it can be submerged: the instructions specifically say not to immerse it for cleaning. Wipe it with a damp cloth instead. The handle is described as ergonomic, and the body as lightweight and durable, but no material, weight, or specific ingress rating is given.

Where it shines

Its clearest practical distinction is the combination of a compact carrying length and a longer working length. A fixed-length prod avoids telescoping parts, but is less adaptable to storage and reach, this model may suit handlers who value both in one tool. The LED and rechargeable battery also reduce reliance on a separate light or disposable batteries, based on the features listed. What matters more than those conveniences, though, is whether the extension mechanism and grip feel dependable for your day-to-day routine.

The product is presented for multiple kinds of livestock, which makes it more flexible than a tool described for cattle alone. Still, the listing does not provide operating instructions, signal settings, or details about the electrical output. Use appropriate livestock-handling practices and do not treat the low-intensity wording as a promise that the device cannot distress or injure an animal.

When it makes sense

It may not suit you if you need a documented electrical output, a stated waterproof rating, or confirmed construction materials before choosing equipment, those details are not included here. It is a more relevant fit if your priority is a rechargeable, extendable herding tool with a light and you can work within the stated limits: drizzle or moisture, but no submersion. Choose it for the retractable format and added visibility, not on the assumption that the battery will last the same length of time in every use pattern.
