Nextbase 522GW 1440p dash cam

Key features

The Nextbase 522GW is a compact front dash cam that records in 1440p Quad HD, aimed at drivers who want clear, usable footage for everyday journeys. It combines high resolution recording with built-in GPS, Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth so you can tag location and speed, transfer clips to your mobile and tweak settings through the MyNextbase app. The camera also includes Emergency SOS, which will alert services with location data if you are unresponsive after a collision.

Tech specs

• Name: Nextbase 522GW
• Resolution: 1440p/30fps
• Lens: F1.3
• Display: 3" HD touchscreen
• Features: GPS, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Emergency SOS, polarising filter

Benefits

Image clarity is the main draw, with 1440p footage and an F1.3 lens that makes number plates and road detail easier to read, especially at distance. The built‑in polarising filter reduces windscreen glare and improves contrast in bright sun or tricky light. The touchscreen and Click&Go Pro magnetic mount speed up daily use, letting you position and remove the unit without fuss.

Practical tips

For routine use, set loop recording and intelligent parking mode so the camera captures incidents while you are parked without filling the memory card quickly. If you plan to rely on the device for critical evidence, the manufacturer recommends a Nextbase SD card or at least a 32GB U3 High Endurance card with minimum 48 MB/s write speed, to ensure stable recording. It’s a good idea to check GPS tagging is enabled if you need speed and location data for an incident.

Where it fits

You’ll like this model if you want a straightforward dash cam that prioritises usable footage and simple daily handling, plus the reassurance of Emergency SOS when driving alone. A minor limit to note is that the unit records at 30fps in QHD, so if you need higher frame rates for very fast motion that may be a consideration.
