Compatibility

This release is marked Region Free, so it is not restricted to a single disc region. To play it, use a 4K UHD Blu-ray player that supports the format. If you are adding it to a collection, the Region Free label is useful when your discs and equipment come from different regions, while the 4K UHD format helps you identify the right edition for your setup.

Best use cases

Choose Audition for a J-horror-focused film night, or when you want to explore the work that helped establish Miike’s international profile. Its reputation as one of the genre’s most notorious films makes it a distinctive choice for viewers interested in Japanese horror beyond newer releases. It also suits a collection built around directors whose work became known through festival screenings and critical recognition.

Compared with choosing a recent horror title simply for a new release, this edition centres on an established film with a clear place in Miike’s career. That makes it especially relevant when the aim is to revisit a recognised J-horror film or broaden a director-focused collection. The 4K UHD Blu-ray format is also a straightforward fit for viewers who specifically collect films in that format rather than standard Blu-ray editions.
