Product description

A practical finish for doorways and joins, the 4M laminate flooring transition strip is a self adhesive PVC edge trim that covers gaps between tiles, laminate or wood floors. It brings a neat visual join and protects edges from wear while remaining softer than metal sill alternatives.

Key points

This 4 metre length of vinyl trim is 5cm wide and 3.5mm thick, ready to be cut to size for each threshold or joint. It suits floor-to-floor and tile-to-floor transitions, and can double as a simple ground demarcation strip. The PVC material is flexible and scratch resistant, according to the original product details, and the strip is presented as safer underfoot than rigid metal profiles.

Specifications

  • Name: 4M Laminate Flooring Threshold Transition Strip
  • Material: PVC
  • Size: 4m length, 5cm width, 3.5mm thickness
  • Colour: Dark Grey
  • Format: Self adhesive vinyl strip

Benefits

The soft PVC construction reduces the risk of sharp edges and compresses slightly under impact, which helps protect floor edges in busy homes. Installation is straightforward when surfaces are clean and dry, and the adhesive backing removes the need for screws or additional fixings. Do bear in mind that the strip may arrive slightly bent due to packaging, and reversing the curve and weighting it flat for an hour or two usually restores a neat profile.

How to use it

Measure the doorway or joint before cutting, then trim the strip to length with a sharp blade. Peel a portion of the backing and align the strip, pressing down firmly as you remove the rest of the backing to ensure full adhesion. If the temperature is below 22°C use a hairdryer to warm the adhesive backing first, and avoid applying on uneven surfaces for best results.

You’ll find this vinyl transition strip a discreet, low-cost way to tidy joins between different floor coverings, especially where a softer profile is preferred over metal trims.
