Product description

A neat way to tidy up the edge of a flooring change, this 2M laminate flooring threshold transition strip helps bridge gaps between surfaces with a flexible, self adhesive vinyl edge trim. It’s made from PVC material that is scratch resistant and wear resistant, and it offers a softer feel than metal sill strips for those busy doorways where floors get noticed every day.

If you’re working on floor to floor transitions or tile to laminate edging, this strip can cover and connect the gap at the threshold, helping improve how the join looks and how the edge sits. It can also be cut to size, so you can match the length you actually need before you install. 😊

Key points

This PVC door bar style transition strip is designed to handle common floor edging and joining needs, including tile to floor and wood to floor gap coverage. The material is soft and flexible, so it can be easier to work with along a doorway edge than harder alternatives, while still being built for scratch resistance and wear resistance.

You get a practical length of 2m and a 4cm width, which suits many threshold and doorway applications where a clean demarcation matters. Because it is self adhesive, installation is a case of preparing the area, cutting to your measured size, then pressing it into place so the strip stays put. It’s also a helpful option when you want a transition that supports ground identification demarcation.

It’s worth noting that the surface needs to be clean and smooth. If the floor is uneven, sticking performance can be affected, so take a moment to check the area before you fit the strip. 👍

How to use it

Start by cleaning the floor or the tiles thoroughly, then let the area dry completely. This helps the adhesive back stick evenly instead of lifting at the edges. Measure the required length first, then cut the strip to size so you avoid unnecessary waste.

When you install, paste one end first, tear off the tape, then press and install at the same time. Work methodically along the join so the strip stays aligned, especially when you are bridging a tile to floor or wood to floor gap. With temperature below 20°C, you may need to use a hairdryer to reheat the backing adhesive so it bonds properly.

During transportation, the strip may be squeezed and deformed, and you can reverse that by bending it back and pressing it with a heavy object for 1 to 2 hours to make it flat again. This small step can make fitting smoother and helps the strip sit naturally where you want it. 🤝

Finally, install only on a clean and smooth surface. Don’t install on uneven areas, and if you do need to adjust the floor edge first, do that before you fit the transition strip. It’s the difference between a join that lays flat and one that fights you during the final press.

Who it’s for

It’s a good fit if you are doing a DIY flooring upgrade and you want a simple way to create a tidier threshold transition between two floor types. You’ll like it if you need floor to floor and tile to floor gap coverage, or a cleaner edge on laminate flooring at the boundary of a room.

It may not suit you if you are expecting a metal style sill finish, or if the area you want to stick to is uneven and cannot be made smooth. It makes sense if you prefer a flexible PVC strip that is easier to handle, especially on doorway edges where you want the join to look deliberate.
