Outsunny 84H-084V00BK Garden Planter with Trellis, Black, 72 x 38 x 150cm

If you want to grow climbing plants while making better use of vertical space outdoors, the Outsunny garden planter combines a raised planting trough with a slatted trellis. Its black finish and wood-grain pattern give it a defined look for a patio, balcony or garden, while the trellis provides support for plants such as roses, beans, peas and vines.

The rectangular planter measures 72 x 38 x 150cm overall, bringing planting and vertical growth together in one freestanding piece.

Everyday use

Use the trough for flowers, herbs or vegetables, and guide climbers up the trellis as they grow. This arrangement keeps the planting area in one convenient spot and makes use of height as well as floor space. The trellis can also act as a visual screen or a focal point, which is useful when you want to add greenery along a patio edge or beside a seating area.

The planter is made from wood-plastic composite boards with an aluminium frame. A drainage gap and bottom gaps help water drain away and air circulate around the planting area. The inner planter dimensions are 69.5 x 34 x 21cm, giving you a defined trough for arranging plants together. Assembly is required, the package includes the planter and a manual.

Why it’s worth it

A low planter gives you space for planting, while this design adds a trellis for plants that naturally grow upwards. That makes it a practical choice for combining flowers or vegetables with climbing varieties without needing a separate support structure. The slatted back also brings a more structured look than a simple planting box, and can provide a degree of screening where you place it.

Buyers appreciate its appearance and suitability for climbers, though feedback on stability and durability is mixed, with some reporting that it tips in windy conditions or breaks early. For a more secure setup, the manufacturer recommends positioning it against a wall and adding decorative stones inside. Its stated maximum load is 75kg, so keep the total contents within that limit.

Key takeaways

The black, rectangular raised bed measures 72 x 38 x 150cm and has an inner planting area of 69.5 x 34 x 21cm. Wood-plastic composite boards sit within an aluminium frame, while drainage gaps help manage moisture around the plants. The included slatted trellis supports climbing growth and can contribute to screening, making the planter useful for flowers, herbs, vegetables and vines in outdoor spaces.

When it makes sense

Choose this planter when you want one outdoor feature to serve as both a planting bed and a support for vertical growth. It suits a patio, balcony or garden where a trellis can help organise climbing plants and add height to the display. Compared with a planter without a back support, it offers a ready-made structure for climbers, for a planting scheme focused entirely on low-growing flowers or herbs, a simple raised bed may be a more direct fit. A solid pick if you want to bring planting and a slatted trellis together in a single black, freestanding design.
