blumfeldt High Grow GDMB4-Highgrow-St-SL Raised Bed, 970L Steel Planter

For gardeners who want to grow vegetables, herbs or flowers in soil they can manage, the blumfeldt High Grow provides a generous raised planting area. Its 970-litre capacity gives you room to grow several favourites together, from tomatoes and cucumbers to basil and strawberries.

The elevated design makes plants easier to tend without bending so low. It also creates a clear boundary around the growing area, helping keep pathway weeds and small pests away from your plants.

Choose a raised bed like this when you want space for a larger planting scheme, individual pots suit a more compact, movable arrangement. The High Grow’s steel construction and 180 x 60 x 90 cm dimensions make it a substantial choice for a garden or courtyard.

Pros

The zinc-aluminium steel frame has a powder-coated finish and is designed to withstand weather, so the bed is suited to outdoor growing. Its raised structure helps prevent soil from becoming compacted, while the planter description also highlights good drainage. That gives you a defined space to fill with soil suited to the plants you want to grow.

The height is a practical benefit during everyday care: planting, checking growth and harvesting can be done from a raised position rather than down at ground level. The sides also form a barrier around the growing area, helping protect plants from pests and small animals. A raised bed can warm more quickly and retain heat through the day, supporting a longer growing season.

Key features

With a 970-litre capacity, this planter has room for a sizeable mix of flowers, herbs, fruit and vegetables. Grow a patch of tomatoes and cucumbers alongside basil, or use the space for strawberries and flowers. The broad planting area suits gardeners who want several crops together rather than a collection of separate small containers.

The bed measures 180 x 60 x 90 cm and weighs 19 kg. Its free-standing format gives you a dedicated growing area in a garden or courtyard. Assembly is described as quick, using minimal tools, the size can also be adjusted, with extensions and a foil roof as options for adapting the setup or creating a DIY greenhouse.

The powder-coated zinc-aluminium steel construction brings together a weatherproof finish and a straightforward, classic look. With soil chosen for the intended plants, you can organise the bed around different crops and keep them together in one accessible space.

Who it’s for

It’s a good fit if you want to grow a generous selection of herbs, flowers, fruit or vegetables in a single raised planter, and value easier access for routine care. It is also suited to gardeners looking to define a planting area in a courtyard, rather than placing individual pots around the space. The raised format, substantial capacity and outdoor-ready frame support a practical growing setup across changing weather.

Final verdict

The blumfeldt High Grow brings together a 970-litre planting capacity, an elevated working height and a weatherproof steel frame. For a larger garden or courtyard planting area, it offers room to grow a varied mix while keeping the soil in a defined, accessible bed.
