Practical tips
The listed listening time gives you a clear sense of the commitment before you start. You can use it to plan a longer listening session or spread the story across shorter ones, depending on your routine. As an audiobook, it offers an alternative to sitting down with a print edition: the narration carries the story while you listen. Its unabridged format also makes it a natural choice for listeners seeking the complete recording rather than an abridged presentation.
What stands out
The appeal here is the combination of a character-focused story and a setting tied to the Imperium’s early history. The title points directly to Valdor and the birth of the Imperium, giving Warhammer readers a specific chapter of the wider Horus Heresy universe to explore. Having two listed narrators, Steven Pacey and Jonathan Keeble, gives the audiobook its performed format, while Chris Wraight’s authorship identifies the story behind the recording.
Customer feedback often highlights the engaging story, its detail and the perspective it offers on the early Imperium. Some listeners describe it as an enjoyable entry into this corner of the setting, while opinions on the characters are divided. A number of customers also find the story shorter than they would have liked. That makes the 6-hour-and-16-minute runtime useful context for anyone choosing between a focused audiobook and a longer listen.
