The Tragically Hip Up To Here Deluxe Edition 3 CDs and Blu-ray Audio

The 2024 remaster brings Up To Here back into focus, while the expanded set adds live recordings, studio material and a Dolby Atmos mix. This deluxe edition follows The Tragically Hip’s debut album from its original release through a live performance recorded in Halifax. Three CDs and a Blu-ray Audio disc give listeners several ways to explore the album and its surrounding material. A 16-page book completes the set.

Getting the most from it

Start with the 2024 remastered version of Up To Here for a refreshed listen to the album that introduced The Tragically Hip as a full-length studio act. Then move into Live from the Misty Moon, recorded in Halifax on April 26, 1990, to hear the band in a concert setting from the album’s early period. The set also includes four previously unreleased studio tracks and a full collection of 1988 demos, offering a closer look at the music around the album’s creation.

The Blu-ray Audio disc adds a Dolby Atmos mix of the album, alongside a concert film of the Misty Moon show. That makes the package useful for listeners who want both music-focused listening and a visual record of the live performance. For a dedicated album session, play the remaster, for a broader dive, move between the demos, unreleased tracks and concert material.

Why it’s worth it

A release centred only on the original album keeps the listening experience focused, this deluxe edition is for fans who want a wider view of Up To Here and the band’s early work. Its mix of a remastered album, demos, previously unreleased studio recordings and a live set brings distinct stages of the music together in one collection. The Dolby Atmos mix and concert film add a listening and viewing dimension beyond the CDs, while the 16-page book gives the physical set a printed companion.

The album’s place in the band’s history is part of its appeal: originally released on September 5, 1989, it featured “Blow at High Dough” and “New Orleans Is Sinking,” both of which became Canadian rock radio number-one singles. The Tragically Hip also received the JUNO Award for Most Promising Artist in 1990. For longtime listeners, the added recordings make it possible to revisit that early period from more than one angle, for a gift, the multi-disc presentation brings the album and related material together in a single set.
