Nalgene REL078792 On The Fly 24 oz Lock-Top Water Bottle, Clear/Black

On a hike, at the gym or between stops on a commute, the Nalgene On The Fly bottle keeps water close at hand in a cup-holder-friendly format.

Its chug cap opens and locks with one hand, making it easy to take a drink without removing the lid. The locking top and leak-proof seal help keep water contained in a gym bag, backpack or work bag.

The clear, reusable bottle holds 24 oz and has measurement markings for tracking intake or mixing drink powders. Its plastic is BPA-, BPS- and phthalate-free, and the bottle is dishwasher safe for straightforward cleanup.

Key features

The defining feature is the lock-top chug cap: flip it open for a direct sip, then lock it shut for carrying. That simple routine suits workouts, travel and outdoor outings where stopping to unscrew a lid can interrupt the activity. The leak-proof design also makes it practical to keep alongside other items in a bag.

With a 24 oz capacity and a profile designed to fit car cup holders, this bottle works for both travel and everyday use. The clear body makes the measurement markings easy to see while you track how much you have had or add a drink mix. The markings go up to 20 oz, while the bottle itself holds 24 oz.

The impact-resistant plastic body is made with Tritan Renew. For shoppers choosing between a wide-opening bottle and a quick-sip design, the On The Fly puts the emphasis on drinking directly from its chug cap and securing the top for transport. It is reusable and suited to camping, running, gym sessions and daily hydration.

Customer feedback often highlights its portability, ease of cleaning, cup-holder fit and leak-resistant performance. Opinions on the lid design are mixed, so its appeal will depend in part on whether a locking chug cap suits your preferred way to drink.

Cleaning & care

The bottle is dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning after a workout or a day out simple. Rinse it after use, particularly when adding drink powders, and clean the lid as part of the bottle’s regular care. The clear body and measurement markings also make it easy to see the fill level as you prepare a drink.

Usage tips

Use the markings to measure a drink mix or keep an eye on intake, bearing in mind that the scale ends at 20 oz even though the bottle holds 24 oz. Close and lock the cap before placing the bottle in a bag. For a commute, its cup-holder-friendly shape keeps it within reach, on a trail or at the gym, the one-handed cap gives you a quick way to sip and get back to what you are doing.

Final verdict

The Nalgene On The Fly is a practical choice for people who want a reusable 24 oz bottle with a direct-sip locking cap, visible measurement marks and a leak-proof design. Its combination of convenient sipping, bag-friendly closure and dishwasher-safe care makes it well suited to everyday hydration, travel and active routines.
