Some outdoor lighting is meant to define a walkway, patio string lights are better suited to bringing a seating or dining area together. The LACHON 100 ft strand adds a continuous line of warm-white globe light for patios, porches, decks and entertaining spaces.

Its 50 G40 LED bulbs give off a 2700K warm-white glow, while the plastic bulbs are shatterproof for everyday outdoor use. Two spare bulbs are included, so you have replacements on hand.

The strand is dimmable and connectable, making it practical for adjusting the mood or extending coverage across a larger area. Use a compatible dimmer, sold separately, when you want to change the light level.

What to know

This 100 ft string light is designed for indoor and outdoor use. Its sealed socket design and IP65 rating support use in wet weather, and the product is described as waterproof and weather-resistant. That makes it suited to an outdoor setting where the lights may encounter rain, wind or damp conditions. The listed electrical rating is 120 volts.

Each bulb is a 1-watt LED with a G40 globe shape, E12 base and 40 lumens of white brightness. The 2700K colour temperature gives the strand its warm-white appearance, a comfortable fit for evening meals and relaxed gatherings. The plastic bulb construction also avoids glass shards if a bulb is damaged.

The strand arrives assembled for plug-in use and can be linked with additional strands to extend the lit area. Individual bulbs operate independently, so one bulb going out does not turn off the rest. A spare fuse is located in the power plug, and the included components are the 100 ft string light, 50 bulbs plus two spares, and a user manual.

How to use it

Hang the strand in a linear layout over a patio table, along a porch or across a deck to create a defined area for evening use. For a bistro or café-style setting, route the lights above the seating area, for a backyard gathering, link strands to cover a broader space. Plan the route before hanging so the strand follows the area you want illuminated and can reach a suitable power source.

The built-in dimmable feature lets you tailor the brightness with a compatible dimmer. Leave the dimmer out for the strand’s regular plug-in use, or add one when adjustable ambience is important. The bulbs are already assembled, so hanging and connecting the strand do not require bulb-by-bulb setup.

Tips for day-to-day use

Use the warm glow to make a dining or lounge area feel distinct from the rest of the yard, then adjust the light level for the occasion when using a dimmer. The strand suits everyday patio use as well as birthdays, holidays and weddings, and its indoor/outdoor design gives you flexibility when decorating a porch, café, bistro or deck.

If you need light across a wider area, connect strands rather than arranging separate short runs. Keep the route intentional and secure the lights where you want the linear layout to sit. The replaceable bulbs and included spares are useful for keeping the strand ready for future gatherings.
