JBL Grip Compact Bluetooth Speaker with Ambient Light, IP68 and Auracast
Product description
Compact enough to hold in one hand, the red JBL Grip brings Bluetooth audio and ambient lighting into a portable speaker. Its JBL Pro Sound is supported by AI Sound Boost, which analyses music in real time to optimize output. The integrated light adds colour to a room or gathering, while IP68-rated water and dust protection and drop-proof construction suit everyday use.
Best use cases
Use the Grip when you want music that can move with you, from listening around the house to sharing a playlist at an outdoor get-together. Bluetooth connectivity keeps playback wireless, and the compact format is easy to carry between spaces. The rear-panel ambient light has different themes and colour options, making it simple to add a visual touch alongside your music.
For a wider soundstage, stereo pair two JBL Grip speakers using Auracast. If you want the same playlist across a larger gathering, Auracast can also connect multiple JBL Auracast-enabled speakers. This gives you a choice between a two-speaker stereo setup and linking compatible speakers for shared playback.

What you’ll notice day to day
The Grip is designed to make portable listening straightforward: pair over Bluetooth, choose music, and carry the speaker wherever you want to listen. JBL Pro Sound gives it a sound-focused design in a hand-sized format. AI Sound Boost analyses music as it plays and uses an algorithm to optimize output for bigger sound with less distortion.
The integrated ambient light is more than a fixed accent. Use the JBL Portable app to select light colours and themes, adjust brightness and set a preferred look. The app also offers a 7-band EQ for customizing the sound, plus updates and support. That makes the speaker adaptable to different playlists and settings without changing how you connect to it.
For active everyday use, the IP68 rating covers water and dust protection, and the speaker is described as drop-proof after a 1-metre drop onto concrete. Battery playback is listed as 12 hours on a charge, with Playtime Boost adding up to 2 extra hours. Recycled plastic and fabric in the speaker grille, along with FSC-certified paper packaging printed with soy ink, are further considered material choices.
