Fomatrade digital stopwatch 8-pack

Technical details

For timing a school sports event or keeping a race moving, a handheld stopwatch is easier to pass between officials than relying on a phone. This Fomatrade set is listed as an eight-pack, with each stopwatch described as having stopwatch, time, alarm, calendar and compass functions.

The stated stopwatch accuracy is 1/100 second. Its digital display shows the hour, minute, second, month, day and date, which gives it a broader everyday timekeeping role than a basic timer. A lanyard is included, so the stopwatch can be worn around the neck when both hands are needed between timings.

The product is described as dustproof, shockproof and waterproof, but the same description says not to use it in water. Treat that as a clear limit: it is not presented as suitable for timing while swimming or for immersion. Battery type, display dimensions and operating instructions are not provided, so those details cannot be assessed from the listing information.

Getting the most from it

There are no stated compatibility requirements or extra equipment needed. The set is a standalone handheld timing option rather than a phone-based app, which may be useful when several people need a stopwatch at the same event. For example, a school meet organiser could hand units to different officials so each can time a race independently. The lanyard also keeps a stopwatch close at hand when moving around a track or field.

It suits you if you need multiple basic stopwatches for organised activities and want time and calendar functions alongside timing. It won't suit you if your main requirement is a stopwatch for use in the pool, since the instructions specifically rule out use in water. The listing does not explain how the compass works or what controls are provided, so avoid choosing it for specialised navigation or timing features that are not named.

Usage tips

Keep the lanyard secure and use the stopwatch in a dry setting. For a running event, an official can hold the unit ready at the start, time a participant through the finish, then check the displayed time. This is a straightforward alternative to coordinating timing through a shared phone, although the product details do not describe lap recording or data storage, so it should not be selected on the assumption that it saves results.

The display includes seconds and hundredths, but a clear numerical display does not guarantee that every timing task will suit the device. If you need documented operating instructions, a particular button layout or specialist event features, those are not confirmed in the available details. Use the listed functions as the basis for your decision rather than assuming extras.

Buying questions

Can it show the time and date as well as measure an event? Yes. The listed functions include timekeeping, calendar and alarm, and the display is described as showing the hour, minute, second, month, day and date.

Can it be used for swimming? The description mentions swimming among possible activities, but also says not to use the stopwatch in water. That makes it unsuitable for use in a pool or underwater timing.

Does it come with a way to carry it? A lanyard is listed, allowing the stopwatch to be worn around the neck. The product name identifies an eight-pack, but the supplied details do not clarify whether each unit has its own lanyard.

Before you buy

The main reason to choose this set is the stated eight-unit format, which can make more sense for a school or group event than buying a single timer. Its functions cover basic stopwatch use plus everyday time and calendar information, while the 1/100-second accuracy is a stated specification rather than an independently verified result. The practical drawback is the water restriction, despite the waterproof wording, and several details—such as battery information and saved timing options—are absent. Pick it for straightforward handheld timing in dry conditions, choose a product with clearly documented water use or specialist timing features if those are essential.
