Smiling Shark Rechargeable Headlamp 2,400 mAh

Key specifications

The combination of two spotlights and two floodlights gives this Smiling Shark headlamp more than one way to light a task: a focused beam for looking ahead, or broader light for work nearby. It also has a motion sensor, five lighting modes and a rechargeable 2,400 mAh battery. The manufacturer states that it can provide up to 8 hours of continuous light and takes 1–2 hours to charge fully. Those figures help set expectations, though actual runtime may depend on the mode in use.

The listed modes cover strong and weak spotlight and floodlight settings, plus strobe. The headband is adjustable, and the housing is described as waterproof and suitable for rain and splashes. No waterproof rating is provided, so that description shouldn’t be taken as confirmation that the lamp can be submerged.

Who it’s for

This head torch is aimed at people who want to keep both hands free while camping, hiking or handling a task in low light. It could also be useful in an emergency kit or for close-up jobs where holding a flashlight would get in the way. For example, you could wear it while sorting gear beside a tent after dark, switching from a wider beam to a focused one as needed.

It suits you if you want rechargeable lighting with both focused and broader beam options, and like the idea of turning the lamp on or off with a wave. It may not suit you if you need a stated waterproof rating for immersion, or detailed battery-life figures for each setting, neither is included in the supplied information. A simpler single-beam light may be easier to operate, while a more demanding outdoor setup may call for clearer weatherproofing and runtime specifications.

Everyday use

The motion sensor is intended to make hands-free operation easier when your hands are occupied. The headband can be adjusted to fit, while the different beam types offer some flexibility between lighting the path ahead and illuminating something close by. That range is useful in principle, but five modes also mean there are more settings to choose between than on a basic on-and-off headlamp.

The rechargeable battery avoids relying on disposable cells, but the information provided doesn’t specify how to charge it or whether a charging cable is included. The stated charging time and maximum runtime are useful reference points, not a guarantee of the same performance in every situation. Treat the water-resistance claims as guidance for rain and splashes rather than a promise for harsher exposure.

Purchase questions

Can it be switched on without using the buttons? The built-in motion sensor is designed to turn the light on or off with a wave.

What lighting options are listed? Strong and weak spotlight and floodlight settings, plus a strobe mode, for five modes in total.

Is it suitable for wet weather? The housing is described as waterproof and intended to handle rain and splashes, but no rating or submersion claim is provided.

Final verdict

This headlamp makes sense if you want a rechargeable option that combines focused and wide lighting with motion-sensor control for camping, hiking or hands-busy jobs. Its 2,400 mAh battery and stated maximum runtime give you a useful starting point for planning. Choose a different approach if your priority is verified protection for submersion or precise runtime information across modes, those details aren’t available here.
