Coop Home Goods CHG-CP-SMF Adjustable Travel Pillow, Compressible Memory Foam

Travellers looking for a compact pillow that can be adjusted for sleep away from home will find a few useful details here. The Coop Home Goods CHG-CP-SMF has removable fill, so its loft can be changed rather than relying on a fixed shape. It is designed for trips ranging from flights to camping.

Worth noting

This small rectangular pillow uses memory foam fill, the manufacturer describes its Oomph Fill as a blend of memory foam and microfibre. You can add or remove fill to adjust the loft and support, which gives you more control than a pillow with a fixed amount of stuffing. That may matter when switching between a hotel bed, an airplane seat or a campsite.

The removable Lulltra cover is machine washable and made from 40% bamboo-derived viscose rayon and 60% polyester. The pillow also comes with a water-resistant stuff sack, which compresses it to nearly half its size for packing. CertiPUR-US and GREENGUARD Gold certifications are listed for the pillow. These details make the design easier to pack and care for, though they do not determine whether its feel or size will suit every sleeper.

How it fits

The adjustable fill makes this a flexible choice for travel situations where a familiar pillow is useful but a full-size one is impractical. It can be used on a flight, in a hotel, or on a backpacking or camping trip. You’ll like it if you want a soft, compressible pillow and the option to change its loft instead of settling for a fixed-fill travel design.

Compared with an inflatable pillow, this takes a foam-filled approach rather than relying on air for its shape. The included sack supports compact storage, but this is still a small pillow, not a substitute for a full-size bed pillow. Buyers’ comments reflect that trade-off: some appreciate its compact size, while others find it smaller than expected. Opinions on its value also vary.

Getting the most from it

Adjust the fill before travelling so the pillow is set up for the support you prefer. If you need more loft, add fill, if you want a lower profile, remove some. Keeping the removable cover clean is straightforward because it is machine washable. For a flight or a night in a tent, pack the pillow in its stuff sack and allow for the space it will take up when unpacked.

Buyers often describe the pillow as comfortable, soft and supportive, and mention using it for air travel, backpacking and tenting. Those are individual impressions rather than a guarantee of a particular sleep result. Its smaller format is a practical space-saving feature for some, but size expectations differ. It may not suit you if you need a broad, full-size pillow for regular bed use.

Buying verdict

The CHG-CP-SMF is worth considering if portability, washable materials and adjustable fill matter more than having a full-size sleeping pillow. Its compressible sack and changeable loft give it a clear travel role, while the compact dimensions are the main point to weigh against your usual pillow preference. For a flight, hotel stay or camping trip, it offers a reusable foam-filled alternative to relying on whatever pillow is available, choose a larger format if you need more sleeping surface.
