TOCARE Paint by Numbers Kit 16 x 20 Inch

Quick overview

Dog lovers and beginner painters who want a guided art project can start with this TOCARE paint by numbers kit. The preprinted 16 x 20 inch canvas features a cheerful curly-coated golden dog with colorful accents. Instead of drawing the portrait from scratch, you match each numbered section to its corresponding acrylic paint and build the image a little at a time.

The kit includes the canvas, acrylic paints, three brushes, a canvas reference diagram, and a color reference image. It offers a more structured starting point than a blank canvas, though it leaves less room to change the design as you go.

How to use it

Use the printed numbers to match areas of the canvas with the corresponding paint color. The included reference materials give you another way to follow the design, while three brush sizes let you switch between broader sections and smaller details. No drawing experience is needed, according to the product information, so the main task is careful color matching rather than sketching the portrait yourself.

Keep in mind that the frame and easel are not included. If your display space has a tight fit, you would be choosing without that measurement, since no separate finished-art dimensions are provided. Plan for the unframed canvas as listed, and consider how you want to display it before starting if framing is part of your goal.

Practical tips

A useful way to approach the project is to work in manageable areas, checking the number on the canvas against the reference before you paint. For example, you might fill a broader patch of the dog's coat with one of the larger brushes, then switch to a smaller one as you reach the tighter shapes around the face. That keeps the numbered guide useful without turning the session into a freehand exercise.

A solid pick if you want a screen-free activity with visible progress and a pet portrait to display afterward. It might not be a great match if you want to choose your own colors, improvise the composition, or begin with everything needed for hanging, the kit is guided, and the frame and easel are separate. It also suits gift-giving when the recipient enjoys dogs or painting, but the listed theme is specifically a curly-coated golden dog rather than a customizable pet portrait.

Practical doubts

Does the kit include a canvas? Yes. It comes with one preprinted, unframed canvas listed as 16 x 20 inches.

Are paints and brushes included? Yes. The set includes acrylic paints and three brushes, along with a canvas reference diagram and a color reference image.

Can the finished painting be displayed right away? The artwork can be framed for display, but a frame is not included. An easel is also not included, so plan on sourcing display support separately if you need it.

When it makes sense

Choose this kit if the appeal is the combination of a dog portrait and a step-by-step painting activity, and you are comfortable working from a numbered guide. Compared with buying a blank canvas and creating a portrait independently, this format reduces the need to draw and plan the image yourself. That convenience comes with a set design and no included display hardware. If you would rather have a ready-to-hang piece, or want full control over the subject and colors, a different approach will suit you better.
