Ticonderoga Tri-Write Wood-Cased Pencils, #2HB, Yellow, 12 Count
Product description
For classroom writing practice, homework, or quick office notes, the Ticonderoga Tri-Write gives you a familiar graphite pencil with a three-sided shape. Its #2HB core and latex-free eraser cover everyday writing and corrections. The pack contains 12 yellow, wood-cased pencils.
On-body feel
The triangular barrel is the main difference from a standard round pencil. Its shape is designed to help teach a correct pencil grip, which can be useful for beginners practicing how to hold a writing tool. It also stays put more readily on a desk than a pencil that rolls freely, according to customer feedback. That makes the design relevant in a classroom or at a shared work surface, not just a styling choice.
Buyers often praise the grip and smooth writing, and some find the pencils helpful for young learners. Feedback on lead durability and sharpening is less consistent: some report easy sharpening and sturdy cores, while others describe breakage or trouble getting a clean point. Those differing experiences are worth weighing if pencils will be used heavily or need frequent sharpening.
Why it’s worth it
The appeal is a practical combination: a grip-oriented shape, a #2HB graphite core, and an eraser on each pencil. The manufacturer describes the graphite formula as designed for smooth writing and the wood as sourced from responsibly managed forests. The eraser is latex-free and intended for clean corrections without smudging. The pencils are also described as PMA-certified non-toxic.
Compared with a basic round pencil, the Tri-Write puts more emphasis on grip guidance and desk stability. It suits you if you want that shape for handwriting practice or routine schoolwork, while still needing a conventional graphite pencil for drawing and notes. If a standard barrel is already comfortable for the user, the triangular design may be less of a deciding factor. You may want to skip it if consistent sharpening and lead durability are your top priorities, since buyer feedback on both is mixed.

Is it worth it?
This pack makes sense when the triangular grip is a meaningful part of the purchase, such as for writing practice or everyday classroom supplies. The smooth-writing feedback and built-in eraser add to its usefulness for routine tasks, but the reports on sharpening and lead breakage are mixed rather than uniformly positive. Choose it for its grip-focused design and familiar #2HB format, look at a different pencil style if a conventional round barrel or consistently trouble-free sharpening matters more.
