TECKNET Wired Mouse, 8000 DPI

Getting the most from it

For people who want a straightforward mouse for everyday computer work, the TECKNET wired model combines quiet-click buttons with adjustable sensitivity and side buttons for browsing. Plug it into a USB port to get started without installing a driver, then choose from six DPI levels ranging from 800 to 8000. Picture moving from a document to a large monitor: a different sensitivity setting can change how far the pointer travels with each hand movement. The RGB lighting is adjustable, too, and can be switched off with a key combination when you want a less noticeable setup.

The 1.5 m cable suits a standard desktop arrangement and avoids charging or battery changes, but it also means the mouse stays tethered. USB-C-only devices need a separate adapter. If you prioritize an uncomplicated wired connection and quiet clicks, this setup makes sense, if you prefer a wireless desk or need customizable side-button commands, look for a different feature set.

Why it’s worth it

Its appeal is the mix of practical controls rather than lighting alone. The forward and back buttons can make moving between web pages or documents quicker, while DPI color indicators help show which sensitivity level is selected. The seven adjustable RGB breathing-light colors add a bit of visual character, with an option to turn the effect off instead of leaving it on throughout the workday.

The product is presented for office use, browsing, and gaming, so the DPI range gives you room to adjust pointer speed for different tasks. That does not make it a dedicated gaming mouse: the supplied information does not mention programmable buttons or other gaming-specific controls. Worth considering if you want one wired mouse for routine work and occasional play, rather than buying around advanced customization.

The essentials

The mouse is listed as compatible with Windows and macOS computers, laptops, desktops, and Chromebooks that have a USB port. There is an important distinction for Mac users: the forward and back buttons do not support their usual function on macOS, and the buttons are not programmable. If those shortcuts are central to how you work, that limitation matters more than the general compatibility claim.

The maker cites a lifespan of up to 5 million clicks, a cable tested for more than 10,000 bends, and a 2-year warranty. Those figures are useful context on the spec sheet, but they are not a substitute for details about fit or long-term comfort, the provided information does not specify dimensions or weight. Better avoided if you need those measurements before choosing a full-size mouse, or if your device has no USB port and you do not have an adapter.

Is it worth it?

This TECKNET is a sensible fit for someone who wants a wired, plug-and-play mouse with quiet clicks, a DPI adjustment range, and simple browsing buttons. It gives more control than a basic mouse with fixed sensitivity, while avoiding the setup and charging considerations of a wireless model. The trade-off is a cable and limited side-button functionality on macOS, so the extra features are most useful when your computer supports them and you actually plan to use them. Choose it for a USB-equipped desk where adjustable pointer speed and quieter clicking matter, skip it if wireless freedom, programmable controls, or confirmed size and weight details are priorities.
