Shark EX304 CarpetXpert HairPro Carpet Cleaner with StainStriker and 5 Tools

For pet hair on a rug, a spill on the sofa, or everyday dirt in carpet, the Shark EX304 CarpetXpert HairPro with StainStriker handles both full-surface cleaning and targeted spot treatment. Its upright cleaner combines a brushroll, PowerSpray, and suction to loosen and lift embedded messes.

HairPro is designed to pick up embedded pet hair without clogging, clumping, or wrapping around the brushroll. Shark also states it captures up to 3X more pet hair, wet or dry, giving pet owners a tool for both routine cleanup and messes that need a deeper pass.

For stubborn stains, StainStriker combines two formulas on contact. Need to switch from cleaning a rug to treating a stain on upholstery? The built-in spot cleaner and five specialized tools make that change of task straightforward.

Together, the upright design and portable spot-cleaning function offer an alternative to buying a whole-room carpet machine and a separate spot cleaner.

Practical tips

Choose the upright cleaner for carpet and area rugs, then use the handheld spot cleaner and appropriate tool for upholstery, stairs, and localized spills. The formulas are designed for use with StainStriker, the two solutions combine on contact to activate the OXY stain-removing action. For odor treatment, Shark states the formulas help remove odors at the source rather than simply masking them. The cleaner also has a self-clean function for care after use.

Usage tips

For a room refresh, work across the carpet with the upright unit’s brushroll, spray, and suction. For a fresh spill or a pet mess on a couch or stair, switch to the spot-cleaning function and select a tool suited to the surface and mess. The included extractors provide dedicated options for pet messes and hair, while the reversible-bristle tool is intended for stain treatment. Shark claims StainStriker delivers up to 20X more stain-removing power than premixed chemicals, and HairPro is designed to reduce hair buildup around the brushroll.

Buyer feedback highlights ease of use and suction, while experiences with residue removal and long-term durability are mixed. Some buyers also mention that the tanks need frequent refilling and emptying during cleaning, a practical consideration when planning a larger room or several separate spots.

Final verdict

The EX304 brings carpet cleaning, pet-hair pickup, and spot treatment into one system, with specialized tools for rugs, stairs, and upholstery. It’s a practical fit for homes that need to address both broad carpeted areas and occasional pet-related or everyday stains, without switching between separate cleaning machines.
