Samsonite 156806-E293 Octiv 2-Piece Hardside Luggage Set, 21/28-Inch

Travelers who need a compact carry-on and a larger checked suitcase in one set can use the Samsonite Octiv to pack for different trip lengths. The 21-inch Carry-On Pro adds an easy-access front pocket, while the 28-inch checked case provides room for larger packing needs.

The front pocket has a padded sleeve for a laptop or tablet up to 16 inches, plus compartments to keep smaller essentials organized. That keeps items you may need during a trip close at hand.

For trips centered on overhead-bin access, the carry-on serves a different need than the larger checked case. Together, the two sizes give you flexibility to choose how much luggage to bring.

Why it makes sense

Both suitcases have a hard polycarbonate shell described as lightweight and scratch resistant, with a design intended to withstand impact and resist cracking. Their expandable zippers add up to 1.5 inches per piece, giving you the option to make more packing room when your plans call for it.

Inside, each case has a zippered divider, a compression strap to help hold belongings in place, mesh pockets, and a WetPak pouch for liquids. The Carry-On Pro is described as holding approximately 3–7 outfits, while the Large holds 12 or more. That pairing suits travelers who want a smaller case for a shorter trip and additional capacity for longer travel or bulkier packing.

Highlights

Four dual spinner wheels on each suitcase rotate 360 degrees for movement in any direction. Samsonite’s Aero Trac Suspension Technology is designed to absorb vibration and bouncing, supporting steadier rolling as you move through travel settings. An adjustable ergonomic telescopic handle offers eight length positions, spaced one inch apart, so you can set a comfortable height. It locks into place while rolling and collapses flush with the case when stored. Top and side carry handles provide options for lifting each suitcase.

The Carry-On Pro’s padded front pocket keeps a laptop or tablet up to 16 inches separate from the main packing area, with additional compartments for smaller items. The carry-on fits in most overhead bins, and both cases have a TSA-approved lock for securing packed belongings during travel.

Getting the most from it

Use the front pocket for a device and travel essentials you want within reach, then organize clothing and other belongings in the main compartment. The divider, compression strap, and mesh pockets make it easier to separate items, the WetPak pouch gives liquids a dedicated place within the case. Expand either suitcase when you need additional packing space, or keep it compact for a more streamlined load. Choose the 21-inch Carry-On Pro when overhead-bin travel and accessible essentials are priorities, and bring the 28-inch Large for trips that call for more room.

Should you buy it?

This two-piece set is a practical match for travelers who want both an overhead-bin-friendly carry-on and a larger checked suitcase, rather than choosing just one case size. The front device pocket, expandable packing space, organized interiors, spinner wheels, adjustable handles, and TSA-approved locks make the Octiv useful across a range of travel plans.
