RunningSnail 090PG Emergency Crank Radio, NOAA/AM/FM, 3-Mode Flashlight

When a storm knocks out power, the RunningSnail 090PG helps you keep weather updates and useful lighting close at hand. Its AM/FM/NOAA radio receives weather broadcasts, while the rechargeable 4,000mAh battery can also supply power to a smartphone.

For emergency kits and outdoor trips, four power options offer flexibility: use the built-in battery, recharge by hand crank or solar power, or connect to a USB power source with Micro USB. That means you can choose the option that fits the conditions around you.

The radio combines three flashlight modes with a motion-sensor reading lamp and an SOS siren. It brings communication, lighting and an alert signal together in one portable unit.

Fit and sizing

At 6.23 inches long, 1.8 inches wide and 3.19 inches high, this green radio is sized for a home emergency kit, bedside table or outdoor gear bag. Its ABS enclosure and 395 g weight make it practical to keep nearby and move where lighting or weather updates are needed. The built-in reading lamp can help illuminate a nearby area during a blackout, while the flashlight is suited to moving through a dark room or around a campsite.

What stands out

Weather information is central to the 090PG’s emergency role. Tune in to AM, FM or NOAA broadcasts for news and weather coverage, including alerts for severe conditions such as hurricanes, tornadoes and heavy snow. An external antenna supports radio reception, giving you another way to stay informed when internet access is unavailable.

Power choices are useful when access to a wall outlet changes. The hand crank provides a manual charging option, and the solar panel offers another way to replenish power. The rechargeable 4,000mAh battery can charge a smartphone, which may help you stay connected during an outage. As with any emergency radio, choose the charging method that suits your situation and keep the unit ready for use.

Lighting does more than help you find your way. Select among three flashlight modes for different tasks, or use the motion-sensor reading lamp for nearby illumination. For urgent situations, a long press of the SOS button activates the siren. Together, these features make the radio a more capable emergency-kit choice than a basic radio focused only on receiving broadcasts.

Buyer feedback often highlights the clear sound, bright light and range of functions in a compact unit. Comments about battery charging and life are mixed, so keeping a suitable charging option available is a practical part of emergency preparation.
