Rumlick Fireplace Mat 25 x 39 in.
Product description
The double-sided, coated fiberglass surface is made to catch sparks, hot grease, and everyday mess before they reach the floor. At 25 x 39 inches, this Rumlick fireplace mat can sit beneath a wood stove, grill, fireplace, or fire pit, giving you a portable barrier that is also designed to fold away when it is not needed.
After grilling, residue and water can be wiped from the surface or rinsed off with a hose. Just keep the fire source itself off the mat.
Best use cases
This mat is aimed at protecting floors, patios, and decks from flying embers, oil, food residue, and water around a cooking or heating area. Use it beneath a grill while cooking outdoors, or position it under a wood stove or fireplace to help catch the mess that lands around the hearth. It is also described for fire pits and camping, where a foldable mat is easier to store and carry than a fixed floor covering.
A practical example: after a cookout, let the area cool as appropriate, then wipe away grease and food residue with a wet rag—or rinse the mat with a hose. The silicone-coated surface is described as oil- and water-resistant, so cleanup is part of the intended use rather than an afterthought. You’ll appreciate it if you want a reusable layer you can move between an indoor hearth and an outdoor grill area.
Product specs
- Size: 25 x 39 inches
- Material: Fiberglass with a heat-resistant coating on both sides
- Listed heat resistance: Up to 2000°F
- Surface: Silicone-coated, oil- and water-resistant
- Format: Foldable and reusable
The stated heat rating is not permission to let flames or another fire source touch the mat. The product instructions specifically say to prevent direct contact to help prolong its service life. On the spec sheet, the coating and heat rating make it sound suited to catching sparks and hot grease, they do not make it a replacement for safe spacing or a surface designed for direct flame exposure.
Where it shines
Its strongest practical advantage is the combination of a protective layer and simple cleanup. A basic cloth or floor covering may catch crumbs, but it is not described as heat-resistant or waterproof, this mat is intended for mess and ember protection around grills and hearths. The foldable format also makes more sense for someone who needs seasonal or occasional coverage than for a buyer seeking a permanent, built-in hearth surface.
The limit is important: the mat is not intended to sit in direct contact with the fire. Its listed uses cover areas beneath appliances and around fire sources, not direct flame protection. If your setup requires a permanent installation or a barrier that can be exposed to flames, this product’s stated use does not establish that it will meet that need. It’s not for you if direct fire contact is unavoidable or you need a specified fit for an appliance, no appliance-specific dimensions are provided.
Is it worth it?
This Rumlick mat makes sense if you need a portable, wipe-clean layer for sparks, grease, and residue around a grill, fireplace, wood stove, or fire pit—and can keep the source of heat from touching it. The fiberglass construction, coating on both sides, and foldable design give it a more targeted role than an ordinary floor protector. If you mainly need coverage against spills and do not have a heat-related use, a simpler washable floor mat may be enough. If direct flame contact is part of the job, choose a product explicitly intended for that exposure instead.
