rumlick HDC-715 36-Inch Round Fiberglass Fire Pit Mat

Some fire pit setups need a portable layer beneath them, others call for a more permanent patio surface. The rumlick HDC-715 is a round fiberglass mat that folds for storage and travel. Its coated surface is designed to help shield decks and patios from sparks, embers, and hot grease. It is intended for use beneath a fire pit, not as a surface for building a fire.

What matters most

The mat measures 35.99 inches across and is 0.04 inches thick. Its fiberglass construction has a heat-resistant coating on both sides, with a stated heat resistance of up to 1050°F. The product information also describes the surface as oil- and water-resistant, which is useful when grease or spills land on it during outdoor cooking.

The listed uses include fire pits, grills, fireplaces, and camping stoves. It is designed for Solo Stove Bonfire and Ranger 2.0 setups, though the fit for any particular arrangement depends on the appliance’s footprint and how it is positioned. Buyers commonly praise its size and report that it helps protect decks and patios from hot embers. Those impressions are useful context, but they do not replace the manufacturer’s placement guidance.

Everyday use

For a patio gathering, the mat can sit beneath a fire pit to catch stray embers and grease before they reach the surface below. Its round shape and nearly 36-inch diameter make the actual footprint important: compare the mat’s coverage with the area around your fire pit and consider where sparks could land. It can also be folded for storage or taken along on a camping trip, rather than left as a permanent patio covering.

After use, the product information says residue, oil, water, and dust can be wiped away with a wet rag or rinsed with a hose. Buyers also speak positively about the material and how the mat works beneath fire pits. The source details do not establish how it performs in every setup, so placement and the fire pit’s instructions still matter.

Practical tips

Keep the fire source at least 8 inches away from the mat, and do not build a fire directly on it. The heat-resistance figure is not permission for direct flame or contact, the manufacturer specifically warns against that use. Position the mat beneath the appliance with enough coverage to suit the setup, then follow the fire pit’s own safety directions as well.

Worth considering if you want a foldable mat for a patio or camping setup and can use its round footprint. Compared with a fixed protective surface, this one is easier to store and transport. Not the best choice if you need a mat that can be placed in direct contact with a flame, since that use is expressly discouraged.

Before you decide

Can the mat be used with a grill or camping stove? The listed uses include grills and camping stoves, as well as fire pits and fireplaces. Keep the heat source off the mat and maintain the stated 8-inch separation.

How do you clean it? The product information recommends rinsing it with a hose or wiping it with a wet rag to remove surface residue, oil, water, or dust.

Does it fold for storage? Yes. It is described as portable and foldable, making it easier to store or take on a trip.

Is it worth it?

This mat makes sense when your priority is a portable barrier beneath an outdoor fire pit, grill, or camping stove, and its roughly 36-inch round size fits the intended area. Its fiberglass construction, coated sides, and wipe-or-rinse cleaning approach address practical concerns around sparks and spills. Choose a different approach if you need protection that permits direct flame contact, this mat is meant to sit beneath a fire source with space between them.
