Plantonix Char Bliss Organic Biochar Soil Amendment, 8 Quarts, OMRI-Listed

Char Bliss’s porous biochar helps soil hold moisture and nutrients, giving roots access to resources as they grow. This organic soil amendment is made from ethically harvested wood and tree trimmings and is OMRI-listed for use in organic gardening.

Blend it into potting mixes or garden soil to support soil structure, aeration, and nutrient availability for indoor and outdoor plants. The 8-quart size offers a practical way to customize mixes for containers, garden beds, and other planting projects.

Key takeaways

Biochar’s porous structure absorbs and retains water and nutrients, helping keep them available in the soil while supporting a more open, aerated growing medium. That combination makes Char Bliss useful when preparing a potting mix or improving garden soil: it contributes moisture retention without relying on synthetic ingredients or additives.

The product is described as organic and OMRI-listed, and its source material is wood and tree trimmings. It can also support carbon sequestration by returning carbon to the soil. For gardeners choosing between a ready-made mix and separate amendments, Char Bliss offers a way to adjust the soil blend themselves around the needs of their plants.

Everyday use

Mix Char Bliss into potting soil, potting mixes, or garden soil as part of preparing a growing medium. Its uses include houseplants, garden containers, lawns, turf, and garden beds, as well as fruit and vegetable, herb, greenhouse, and tropical gardens. In a container, for example, combine it with the other components of a potting mix to support moisture retention, nutrient availability, and aeration around the roots.

Buyers often describe the pieces as small and easy to work into soil. Some also mention using biochar alongside materials such as bark, coco chips, perlite, and worm castings in chunky mixes for aroids such as Monstera and Philodendron. These comments point to its role as a blend-in amendment, whether you are preparing a custom mix or enriching an existing potting medium.

Best use cases

Char Bliss suits gardeners who want to tailor soil for potted plants or amend garden soil with a material that supports moisture and nutrient retention. It can be used in indoor and outdoor planting projects, from houseplant containers to herb gardens and vegetable beds. Its aeration and soil-structure benefits also make it relevant when working with compacted soil or building a more porous potting blend.

Choose this format when you prefer adding an amendment to the soil you already use rather than relying only on a premixed growing medium. The 8-quart volume is suited to preparing or refreshing multiple plant mixes, while its use across container and garden applications helps keep one amendment on hand for different planting projects.

Final verdict

For gardeners who want more control over potting and garden soil, Char Bliss combines moisture and nutrient retention with support for aeration and soil structure. Its organic, OMRI-listed biochar format and 8-quart volume make it a practical fit for custom container mixes, houseplants, and outdoor gardens.
