Plano PLA1612AZ Ammo Box with Lift-Out Tray and Water-Resistant O-Ring Seal

Product specs

The Plano PLA1612AZ is a rectangular plastic field box designed to keep ammunition organized for storage and transport. Its lightweight construction and heavy-duty handle make it practical to carry to the range or hunting blind.

A lift-out tray and top-access storage give you two levels for organizing contents. Keep smaller items in the tray and access the main compartment beneath it when needed.

A water-resistant O-ring seal helps protect contents from moisture, while the brass latch secures the lid. A built-in padlock tab adds an option for locking the box.

Everyday use

For range trips or hunting outings, the box brings ammunition and related gear together in a portable format. The manufacturer describes it as designed to fit .50-caliber ammunition and says it holds up to six boxes of 2.75-inch or 3-inch shells. The tray adds a useful way to separate smaller items from the main storage area, so the contents are easier to arrange and reach.

The O-ring seal is intended to help guard against moisture and the elements during transport and storage. It is water-resistant protection for field use, paired with a latch that keeps the lid closed as you carry the box by its handle.

Who it’s for

This field box suits people who want a reusable, carryable container for organizing ammunition at home and taking it to a range or hunting location. Its lift-out tray is especially useful when you prefer separated storage rather than placing everything in one open space. Buyers commonly praise the roomy capacity, sturdy construction, and water resistance. Feedback on the locking setup is mixed: some appreciate the latch and padlock tab, while others report that the opening may not fit standard locks.

When it makes sense

Choose this style of box when portable storage, a separate tray, and a moisture-resistant seal are priorities. Compared with a basic open container, its covered design and built-in organization are better suited to carrying contents between storage and field use. The handle supports transport, and the top-access layout lets you reach the tray or main compartment without reorganizing everything. It makes sense if you want one box for keeping ammunition arranged at home and bringing it along for range or hunting trips.
