PicassoTiles PTR12 Magnetic Race Track Add-On, 12 Pieces in 5 Styles

For kids ages 3 and up who enjoy building with magnetic tiles, the PicassoTiles PTR12 adds track-focused shapes for creating more varied race routes. Its 12 plastic pieces include split sections, curves, a speed bump, and turns, giving children new ways to shape a course and explore how its sections connect.

This is a track expansion for hands-on, creative play, with no batteries required.

How to use it

Connect the magnetic pieces to build a race route with straight-through choices, curves, and changes in direction. The set includes a two-way split, two three-way splits, four right/left curves, four one-eighth turns, and a speed bump. Children can rearrange the track to create different layouts, play independently, or build together and decide where each section should go.

The pieces are intended to extend magnetic tile track play. If you’re adding them to a collection, use them with magnetic tiles that connect with this set. Small parts and magnets are present, so adult supervision is appropriate for young children, and the set is recommended for ages 3 and up.

What you’ll notice day to day

The five track styles add more route choices than a collection of basic building shapes alone. Split pieces create branching paths, curves change the direction of travel, and the speed bump adds a distinct feature for children to incorporate into their layouts. Rebuilding is part of the activity: kids can test a new arrangement, see how the pieces fit together, and adjust the route as their ideas change.

The magnetic connections make the activity tactile. Placing and joining pieces gives children a hands-on way to practice fine motor control and hand-eye coordination, while building routes encourages shape recognition, creative thinking, and early reasoning about cause and effect. The set can support solo play or a shared building activity, with children collaborating on where the track should go.

What matters most

The PTR12 is a focused add-on rather than a general-purpose assortment of magnetic shapes. That makes it useful when the goal is to expand track layouts with junctions, turns, and a speed bump. A general building-tile set may suit play centered on making varied structures, these pieces are designed to give race-track construction more options. The product measures 9.75 x 6.63 x 2.38 inches and contains 12 pieces.

Buyer feedback highlights enjoyment and the set’s use as an addition to an existing collection. Durability comments are mixed, including a report of broken pegs on cars that stay on the track. That feedback concerns the cars, so the 12-piece track expansion itself remains the focus when considering what this set adds to building play.

Is it worth it?

A solid pick if a child already enjoys magnetic construction and would benefit from more ways to shape a race track. The five styles encourage experimentation, route planning, and collaborative building, while the 12-piece format keeps the purpose clear: expanding track layouts rather than replacing a broader magnetic-tile collection.
