ORZbb DL-M24 Magnetic Building Blocks and Chess Set, 200 Pieces

For kids who enjoy building, pretend play, and learning a board game, the ORZbb DL-M24 brings those activities together in one set. Its magnetic blocks support castle-building, while the chess theme gives play a clear next step. What if a building session could turn into a friendly strategy game? The two themes make it easy to move between creating and playing.

Getting the most from it

Children can use the magnetic blocks to build forest-castle scenes, then bring the chessboard into the play session for a castle-versus-castle game. The black-and-white sides give kids a starting point for role-play, while leaving room to invent characters and stories around the match. For a parent-child activity, one person can help build a castle and then join a two-player chess game. In a classroom or group setting, the combination offers a hands-on building activity followed by a turn-based game.

The set is designed for children ages 3 and up and contains 200 pieces. Its 0.8-inch blocks make small-scale building part of the experience, and the included storage bag gives families a place to keep the pieces together between activities or when taking the set along. The blocks are also described as compatible with other magnetic cubes of the same size, so they can extend an existing collection that uses matching blocks.

Pros

The main advantage is the choice of play: this set pairs magnetic construction with chess instead of focusing on building alone or offering only a board game. That gives children a way to create a scene and then use it as a backdrop for competition and make-believe. The educational goals include imagination development, spatial thinking, creativity, patience, and concentration, with magnetism and structure also introduced through hands-on building.

Buyers often praise the magnets and the way the blocks encourage imaginative play, and some appreciate having a storage bag for keeping the set portable. Impressions of the block size are mixed, so the listed 0.8-inch dimensions are useful when choosing a set for the kind of building experience you want.

What matters most

The defining detail is the mix of construction and chess. A child can arrange the pieces into a castle setting, then shift to a game for two players, the black-and-white sides help frame the activity as a friendly contest. This makes the set suitable for a shared play session at home, a classroom activity, or a kids’ game gathering where building and turn-taking can both be part of the fun.

If you are choosing between a magnetic building set and a standalone chess game, this set brings both formats together. Its 200-piece count provides material for building, and the chess theme adds a structured game to the imaginative play. The same-size compatibility detail may also matter to families who already have matching magnetic cubes and want to combine sets.
