LG xboom Stage501.AUSALBK Karaoke Party Speaker, 25-Hour Playback, IPX4

Choosing a speaker for background music is different from setting up a karaoke night or a small performance. The LG xboom Stage501 is designed around singing and playback, with a built-in battery and several ways to position it. Its four mounting options also make it easier to adapt the setup to the space.

At a glance

The Stage501 combines music playback with AI Karaoke, so you can sing along without needing a separate karaoke app. A two-way handle supports carrying, while the speaker can stand vertically or horizontally, tilt back, or mount on a pole. There’s also a built-in pocket for a phone or tablet, useful for keeping lyrics, playlists, or performance cues close at hand.

LG lists up to 25 hours of playback, but that figure comes from internal testing at volume level 23 with Bluetooth on, Play Time Enhance enabled, and the lighting off. Actual battery life can vary with use and connectivity. Customizable lighting and audio tuning by will.i.am add to the performance-focused setup, while the LG ThinQ app offers controls for audio, playlists, and equalizer settings.

Usage tips

IPX4 means the speaker is rated for splashing water, not for use as a waterproof device. Dry it before use if it gets wet, and do not charge it while wet. That makes it more suited to settings where occasional splashes are possible than to situations involving submersion or deliberate exposure to heavy water.

For a longer session, note the conditions behind the stated battery estimate: lighting was off during testing. If lighting is part of your setup, or you use different volume and playback settings, the runtime may differ. The product information does not specify a charging time, so plan around the stated use rather than assuming a particular recharge schedule.

How to use it

Place the speaker vertically, horizontally, tilted, or on a pole according to the room and performance setup. The pocket can hold a phone or tablet for lyrics or cues. For karaoke, use the AI Karaoke feature and connect a microphone separately, a microphone is not included. No separate app is required to start karaoke, though the ThinQ app is described as an additional way to adjust audio and related settings. Internet access and subscriptions may be needed for some app services.

This setup makes sense for someone who wants one speaker for music and occasional sing-alongs, rather than a basic speaker intended only for casual listening. Its carry handle and battery support moving it between locations, while the multiple positions offer more flexibility than a fixed-placement setup. A dedicated karaoke system may be a better fit if you specifically need included microphones or other equipment, those are not listed as part of this speaker.

What to clarify

Does the Stage501 include a microphone? No. The product information states that the microphone is not included, so karaoke requires a separate one.

Is the 25-hour figure guaranteed in every setup? No. It is an “up to” estimate from specified test conditions, and actual playback time may vary.

Can it be used around water? It has an IPX4 rating for splash resistance. Dry it before use and do not charge it while wet.

Final verdict

Worth considering if you want a battery-powered speaker that supports karaoke as well as music, with flexible placement for a gathering or performance. It’s not for you if your setup depends on an included microphone or protection beyond splash resistance. Those practical details matter more here than the headline runtime: the speaker’s appeal is its combination of karaoke features, portability, and adaptable positioning.
