Gaiam 05-58867 Classic Balance Ball Chair with 52cm Ball and Rolling Base

Set up a home office or classroom workspace with a seat that encourages movement as you work. The Gaiam Classic Balance Ball Chair pairs a removable 52cm balance ball with a wheeled frame, so you can shift your sitting position while keeping the ball supported at desk height.

Its active-sitting design engages your core through small movements and is intended to encourage upright posture. The set also includes an air pump and exercise guide for getting started.

How it fits

This chair is designed for users from 5' to 5'11" and is compatible with most standard desk heights. Its 22 x 22 x 31-inch frame gives the ball a defined place at your workstation, while four caster wheels make it easier to move the chair between tasks. Two wheels lock for a more stationary setup when you want to focus on desk work.

Unlike a fixed-seat office chair, the balance ball lets your body make subtle adjustments as you sit. That active-sitting approach can suit work sessions at home, study time, or classroom tasks where you want movement built into your seat. The ball can also be removed for use as an exercise tool, extending the set beyond the desk.

What stands out

The chair combines the ball, base, and mobility features in one workstation setup. A metal support bar helps hold the ball in position, and the removable ball gives you another way to use the set for exercise. The included exercise guide offers a starting point for stretches and strengthening movements. Assembly uses one tool, and the ball’s inflation instructions call for an initial inflation, a rest period, and then inflation to 52cm.

Buyers often highlight the chair’s back support, comfort, and straightforward assembly. Feedback on durability is mixed, and some buyers describe the seating setup as smaller or lower than expected. The stated user-height range is a practical reference when deciding whether this active-sitting style suits your desk and preferred sitting position.
