Franklin Sports 70152F12Z 49ers Mini Football, 8.5-Inch Soft Foam

The 8.5-inch Franklin Sports mini football is sized for young players and has a soft foam cover for a comfortable feel in the hands. Its compact format makes it easy to bring along for casual throws and catches.

Designed for San Francisco 49ers fans, it features team-specific logos and colors with embossed details. The NFL license gives the ball a fan-focused look for play or display.

The set is named with an air pump, while the ball’s Spacelace system guides fingers into position for a more natural grip when throwing. That combination makes it a practical pick for backyard play, tailgates, or a gift for a young football fan.

How to use it

Use the mini football for casual throwing and catching with young players. Its 8.5-inch size is designed to fit smaller hands, and the soft foam cover offers a comfortable surface to grip during play. The Spacelace lacing system helps show where fingers go on the laces, so kids can practice their grip as they learn to throw.

Bring it to a backyard barbecue or tailgate for an easy game of catch, or keep it as a 49ers keepsake. The embossed team logos also give it display appeal, including as an autograph football. Inflate the ball with the pump included in the set before play.

Benefits

This ball brings together a youth-friendly size and grip-focused details. The Spacelace system guides fingers to the laces, while the soft foam cover is designed to make the ball easier for younger players to hold. Those features suit relaxed catch practice, where a child can focus on handling and throwing rather than using a full-size football.

Its team-specific design adds another reason to choose it over a plain practice ball: the 49ers logos and colors make it recognizable to a fan and give it keepsake potential. The NFL license and embossed graphics suit a gift for a young supporter, while the mini format is convenient for casual play at home or at a tailgate. Buyers often praise its size, soft feel, grip, and appearance. Feedback on durability and air retention is mixed, so experiences with those aspects vary.

If the priority is structured practice with a regulation-size ball, a full-size football serves a different need. This mini version is intended for smaller hands and casual play, with team identity built into the design. It suits you if you want a 49ers football that can move between a game of catch and a fan display.

Should you buy it?

Choose this Franklin Sports mini football for a young San Francisco 49ers fan who can enjoy both hands-on play and team-themed keepsakes. Its 8.5-inch size, soft foam cover, finger-guiding Spacelace system, and licensed team design give it a clear role for backyard catch, tailgates, and fan gifting.
