Product description
This set of D'Addario electric guitar strings focuses on stronger tuning stability and an emphasized midrange to help a guitar cut through band mixes while retaining feel and playability. Perfect for players who need a tougher wound third without sacrificing tone, these NYXL Nickel Plated medium gauge strings are intended for versatile use across rock, blues, and heavier styles.
Key Points
The medium gauge wound third (13-56) offers a thicker feel on the lower strings with a wound G that delivers more presence and crunch in the mid frequencies. According to the manufacturer, the NYXL line uses a nickel-plated steel wrap over a high-carbon steel core, engineered to increase break resistance and hold tuning under aggressive bending and heavy playing. These strings are made in the United States and come as a 6-string pack of 1 set.

Benefits
The wound third adds sonic weight where standard plain third strings can sound thin, giving chord voicings and single-note lines more body. Players who bend strings frequently may notice improved tuning recovery after big bends according to D'Addario, which attributes the performance to their Fusion Twist construction. The nickel-plated surface tends to balance brightness and warmth, making the set adaptable for both clean and overdriven tones.
Usage Recommendations
For electric guitars with standard string spacing and typical bridge setups, these strings can be installed like any set. Consider a slightly longer break-in period for the wound G while stretching new strings gently to speed up stabilization. If you prefer lighter bending effort, you may want to compare to lighter gauge sets, as medium wound thirds will increase overall tension and may require minor neck relief adjustment on some instruments.
