Faracent C12-Grey USB-C Extension Cable, 5 ft, 20Gbps, 240W, 4K@60Hz

Worth noting

At 5 ft, the Faracent C12-Grey adds reach between a USB-C device and a USB-C connection without changing the cable’s male-to-female extension format. It supports data transfer up to 20Gbps, charging up to 240W, and video output up to 4K at 60Hz. These capabilities make it useful when a device’s port is awkward to reach or the existing connection needs extra length.

Its round cable has a dual-layer nylon braid and aluminum-alloy connectors. The construction pairs a flexible outer covering with reinforced connector housings for everyday indoor or outdoor setups.

Quick sizing guide

The 5 ft length works for adding a short run between a USB-C device and a cable or display connection. For video, the manufacturer recommends keeping the combined length of this extension and the USB-C video cable within 10 ft, longer runs can make the signal unstable. To reach the stated 20Gbps data rate, use a USB-C-to-USB-C connection, and note that actual transfer speed also depends on the connected device’s port.

Best use cases

Use the extension to bring a USB-C port within reach for charging, syncing data, or connecting a USB-C laptop to a USB-C display. It supports charging up to 240W (48V/5A), with power also depending on the connected device and the charging cable. For a compatible video setup, it supports output up to 4K at 60Hz, such as extending the connection from a laptop to a USB-C monitor.

Compared with replacing a cable with a longer one, an extension can add reach while keeping the existing connection in place. It is designed for USB-C devices, but it is not compatible with Thunderbolt 3 docks and hubs. The manufacturer also advises against using it with multi-interface hubs, so it is better suited to a direct USB-C connection than a hub-based setup.

Buyer feedback is positive about the cable’s length and versatility, while experiences with compatibility, charging, flexibility, and durability are mixed. That makes the intended connection especially important: a direct USB-C device connection is the clearest fit for its supported charging, data, and video uses.

Before you decide

Can it charge a laptop or tablet? It supports USB-C charging up to 240W and is backward compatible with lower power levels. The device and charging cable determine the power delivered, the cable itself does not guarantee that every device will charge at 240W.

Can it carry video to a monitor? Yes. It supports USB-C video output up to 4K at 60Hz. For a more stable video connection, keep the combined length of this extension and the USB-C video cable within the manufacturer’s recommended 10 ft.

Will it work with a Thunderbolt 3 dock? No. It is not compatible with Thunderbolt 3 docks or hubs. For the supported use, connect it directly between USB-C devices or cables rather than through a multi-interface hub.

Buying verdict

The Faracent C12-Grey is a practical USB-C extension for adding 5 ft of reach while retaining support for high-power charging, fast data transfer, and 4K video. It is best suited to direct USB-C connections where the extra distance makes a device, charger, or display connection easier to position.
