eufy Security T817L C31 Indoor/Outdoor Camera, 360° Pan/Tilt, Color Night Vision

For home monitoring across indoor rooms and outdoor areas, the eufy Security C31 combines pan-and-tilt coverage with spotlight-free color night vision. Its IP66-rated design suits locations such as a living room, garage, porch, or driveway. Plug-in power supports continuous operation, while AI detection can identify people, vehicles, pets, and crying.

How to use it

Mount the camera on a wall or ceiling, upright or inverted, and connect it to power using its cable. Use the eufy app to control the camera and set it up over Wi-Fi. For 24/7 recording, save footage locally to a microSD card of up to 256 GB or pair the camera with HomeBase Mini or HomeBase 3. The microSD card is sold separately, footage can be stored locally without a cloud subscription. Alexa and Google Assistant are supported.

The camera’s pan-and-tilt movement and AI auto-tracking help follow activity across a room or yard rather than keeping the view fixed in one direction. What does that mean in everyday use? You can place it where activity may move through the scene, then use the app to check the camera’s view and recorded footage.

Why it makes sense

C31 brings indoor and outdoor monitoring together in one plug-in camera. Its 360° pan-and-tilt coverage is a useful alternative to relying on a single fixed-angle view, especially in a space where people, pets, or vehicles may move across the area. IP66-rated water and dust protection supports outdoor placement, while the corded design enables continuous recording when configured with local storage or a compatible HomeBase.

Buyers often highlight picture quality in both daytime and nighttime conditions, along with color night vision, setup, person tracking, and the option to use the camera without a subscription. Feedback on Wi-Fi connectivity and motion response is mixed, so placement and a suitable Wi-Fi connection are practical parts of setting up the camera.

Key features

PureColor night vision captures color video without a spotlight, helping preserve a natural-looking view after dark. The camera also offers infrared night vision, with a listed range of 20 feet. A 1080p video resolution and 15 frames per second recording provide the camera’s stated video format for everyday home monitoring.

AI detection covers humans, vehicles, pets, and crying, making the camera relevant for checking an entryway, keeping an eye on a pet, or monitoring a room. Pan-and-tilt control and auto-tracking help follow movement, while audio and video recording add sound to the footage. Local microSD storage or a supported HomeBase provides a way to keep recordings without a monthly cloud plan.

When it makes sense

Choose the C31 for a space that benefits from a movable view, color night vision, and ongoing recording from a powered camera. For example, mounted near a garage or porch, it can monitor activity across the area and record to local storage, indoors, it can be used to check on a pet or keep an eye on a shared room. Its weather-resistant design supports outdoor use, and its app-based control makes the camera’s view accessible through the eufy app. A solid pick if you want one camera for flexible indoor or outdoor monitoring with local recording and no subscription requirement.
