ESV Beholding Christ Bible Hardcover with Full ESV Text and 365 Daily Introductions

At 6 x 1.94 x 9 inches, this hardcover Bible combines the full ESV text with 365 daily introductions by Nancy Guthrie. The reading plan divides the Bible into daily passages. Each introduction highlights how the passage points to Christ.

Worth noting

The material is designed to do more than set out a reading schedule. Guthrie introduces each book with key themes to watch for, then uses the daily entries to explain unfamiliar people, events, and cultural context. The notes also connect individual passages to the Bible’s larger story of redemption, giving readers a framework for considering how each section fits into the whole.

The entries include key words and ideas to look for, along with encouragement toward prayer, personal examination, meditation, and worship. That makes this edition especially relevant to readers who want a guided, Christ-centered approach alongside the Scripture text. Its interpretive focus is specific: readers looking for a broad reference Bible without devotional or theological guidance may prefer a different format.

At 1,816 pages and 2.91 pounds, it is a substantial book to keep at a desk or reading spot. Those details may matter if portability is a priority, while the hardcover format suits readers who want the Bible and its teaching notes together in one volume.

How to use it

Follow the 365-part plan by reading the assigned Bible passage with its accompanying introduction. Guthrie’s notes point out themes and details to notice, then suggest ways to respond. For example, a reader could take a daily passage, identify the listed ideas in the text, and use the reflection prompts to guide prayer or meditation. The introductions are interspersed through the ESV text, so there is no need to switch between this Bible and a separate guide to follow the plan.

Tips for day-to-day use

A consistent reading place can make it easier to return to the next passage and its introduction. Keep the focus on the passage itself as well as the explanatory notes: the notes are intended to direct attention to the Scripture, not replace reading it. Readers may also find the key words and themes useful as prompts for personal reflection or worship.

It’s a great fit if you want a full ESV Bible with a structured, Christ-focused guide for reading through Scripture. Not the best choice if you want an edition without an interpretive framework or prefer to use a separate study resource alongside your own Bible.

When it makes sense

Choose this edition if having the complete ESV text and Nancy Guthrie’s daily teaching in one hardcover volume is central to your reading routine. The separate Beholding Christ book offers the same instructive readings without the ESV text, which may suit readers who already have a Bible they want to use. This edition makes more sense when you want the reading plan and Scripture together, the companion format is the alternative when keeping your current Bible is more important.
