Brightown G40 Replacement Light Bulbs 5W

For anyone replacing bulbs in a decorative string-light setup, these Brightown G40 bulbs focus on a warm, vintage-style glow rather than high-output general lighting. The clear glass globes are listed as 1.5 inches, use an E12 candelabra base, and come in a 25-pack, making them suited to replacing several empty sockets at once.

They’re also described as dimmable and waterproof for indoor and outdoor use. The listing gives a 1,000-hour lifespan, but doesn’t provide a waterproof rating or more detail about conditions the bulbs can handle.

Key specifications

Each bulb is an incandescent 120V, 5W G40 globe with clear glass and a warm-white output. Its E12 candelabra screw base is listed as fitting C7 and E12 sockets. The bulbs are also described as dimmable, with smooth operation and no flicker, strobe, buzzing, or humming. Those are useful details for decorative lighting where the bulbs are visible and may be used at a lower brightness.

The pack contains 25 bulbs, each separated in its own compartment for shipping. That quantity makes more sense for refreshing a longer strand or keeping replacements on hand than for someone who only needs a single bulb. On the spec sheet, the 1,000-hour lifespan is worth weighing against the convenience of getting a full replacement set in one purchase.

Who it’s for

These are aimed at people using patio or backyard string lights, balcony lighting, or indoor decorative fixtures such as chandeliers, sconces, vanity lights, and candle-style lamps. A practical example: when a few bulbs in a patio strand go dark, a matching pack of G40 globes lets you replace them with the same listed size and warm-white style instead of mixing different-looking bulbs along the line.

It makes sense if you want clear globe bulbs with a vintage look and already have compatible sockets. Compared with choosing a more general-purpose bulb, this set is specifically presented for decorative fixtures and string lights. It might not be a great match if you need long-life bulbs for frequent, extended use, or if you need verified protection for a particular outdoor exposure, the listing doesn’t specify an IP or other waterproof rating.

What you get

The package includes 25 clear-glass G40 incandescent bulbs, each rated at 5W and 120V. The bulbs are individually separated in the packaging, which is intended to help prevent breakage in transit. No string lights, sockets, dimmer, or other fixture parts are listed as included, so this is a replacement-bulb purchase rather than a complete lighting setup.

The warm-white glow and dimmable design suit settings where atmosphere matters more than task lighting. For a patio dinner, for instance, lowering compatible bulbs can create a softer look across the seating area. Check that your socket and dimmer match the bulb requirements before installing, the product details do not name specific dimmer models or provide further electrical guidance.

Before you decide

Will these fit C7 string lights? The listing says the E12 candelabra base fits C7 and E12 sockets. Match the socket type on your fixture before ordering.

Can the bulbs be dimmed? They’re described as dimmable, with smooth dimming. The listing doesn’t identify compatible dimmers, so compatibility depends on your existing setup.

Are they suitable outdoors? They’re described as waterproof and intended for indoor and outdoor use. No protection rating or exposure limits are provided, so the listing doesn’t establish suitability for every weather condition.

Buying verdict

Choose this 25-pack when you need several matching G40 replacement bulbs for decorative fixtures or string lights, and the E12 base, 5W rating, and warm-white appearance fit your setup. The main trade-off is that the stated lifespan is 1,000 hours, and the outdoor protection claim lacks a rating. If you need a documented weather-resistance level or a bulb for regular, long-hour lighting, look for those details before choosing this set.
