BLCXTOYZ XB6601 Montessori Shape Sorter Activity Cube, 6-Piece Sensory Toy

At 4.7 x 4.7 x 4.7 inches, the BLCXTOYZ XB6601 is a compact activity cube for hands-on play. The listed materials include plastic, wood, and non-toxic paint.

The 6-piece set combines shape sorting with textured and tactile activities. Its stretchy-band sides add another way for little hands to push, pull, and explore.

Designed for ages 12 months and up, it offers a non-electronic alternative to toys built around lights or sounds. No batteries are required.

Why it makes sense

This cube brings several kinds of early play into one small format: matching shapes, handling blocks, and exploring different textures. Those actions give toddlers a simple way to practice grasping, fitting pieces, and noticing colors and shapes. The product description also identifies fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, sensory development, and problem-solving as learning goals, these are opportunities for play, not guaranteed outcomes.

For a practical play session, a caregiver can set out the pieces and invite a child to try matching shapes or moving them through the stretchy sides. That makes the cube useful for short, hands-on activities at home without needing a powered feature or separate setup. You’ll appreciate it if you want one toy that offers more than a basic shape sorter while keeping the play straightforward.

Key points

The set is described as including puzzle pieces, sensory blocks, a shape sorter, stacking rings, and textured balls. The listed educational themes include shape and color recognition, tactile exploration, and coordination. Its indoor-use designation and 8-ounce listed weight help frame it as a small play item rather than a large activity station.

The cube’s main distinction is its mix of sorting and sensory play. A basic sorter focuses more narrowly on matching pieces to openings, this set adds textured items and stretchy-band sides for pushing and pulling. In contrast, a toy with electronic prompts would offer a different kind of interaction. This one is explicitly non-electronic and does not require batteries.

Best use cases

The 12-month-and-up age range makes this a candidate for early toddler play, including supervised shape matching, handling blocks, and exploring textures. Its compact dimensions may make it easier to place on a low play surface or put away between activities. The age guidance is broad, so the child’s current interest in grasping, sorting, and exploring objects is a more useful consideration than assuming every activity will suit every toddler at the same stage.

It may not suit you if you are specifically looking for a battery-powered toy or a product described as having lights, sounds, or electronic guidance, those features are not listed here. The available details also do not explain care instructions, so avoid assuming a particular cleaning method.

When it makes sense

Choose the XB6601 if a small, non-electronic toy with several tactile and sorting activities fits your plans for a toddler 12 months or older. It can work as a first-birthday gift or as an addition to a play area where shape recognition and hands-on exploration are the focus. If your priority is a dedicated single-purpose sorter, compare its mixed activity format with a simpler sorter, if you want varied tactile interaction in one set, the cube’s combination of pieces and stretchy sides is the more relevant feature.
