Beats Portable Bluetooth Speaker

For listeners who want one speaker for a room, a patio, and the trip between them, the Beats Pill keeps playback simple with Bluetooth and top-mounted controls.

Take it outside when you want music without bringing a full home setup. Its IP67 dust and water resistance is designed for beach and trail use.

If you prioritize easy wireless listening, Bluetooth does the job, if you prefer a wired connection, USB-C supports high-resolution lossless audio with a compatible device.

Getting the most from it

Set the Pill where you can reach the Center, Plus, and Minus buttons, then handle playback, calls, and volume without picking up your phone. Picture a playlist running while you cook: a quick tap on the speaker adjusts the volume, and you can keep moving. For travel or a day outdoors, the removable lanyard and soft-grip silicone body add practical carrying details, while the water- and dust-resistant rating suits settings where a delicate indoor speaker would be a less comfortable choice.

For a wired listening setup, connect over USB-C to a laptop or compatible device. The port also lets the Pill act as a power bank for a phone or other device, so it has a second role when you’re away from an outlet. Battery life is listed at up to 24 hours, that is a maximum claim, not a guarantee of the same runtime in every use. The maker also says the redesigned woofer moves 90% more air than the previous Beats Pill, with up to 69 watts of output.

Why it’s worth it

The appeal is flexibility rather than a single-use design: Bluetooth for everyday listening, USB-C for supported wired audio, and a built-in way to charge another device. It’s a great fit if you want one portable speaker to move from home to outdoor plans without changing how you listen. The redesigned tweeter is intended to keep highs clear, while the woofer design aims to limit bass distortion at higher volume, according to the maker.

There is also a route to a wider setup: pair two Pill speakers in Amplify mode for more sound, or use Stereo mode for separate left and right channels. That means you can start with one speaker and add another if dedicated stereo playback matters later. If your priority is a fixed, room-specific stereo system, a speaker designed and sold as a full stereo setup may be a more direct fit.

Key features

The core details are a Bluetooth connection, USB-C audio and charging, up to 24 hours of battery life, and IP67-rated dust and water resistance. The speaker comes in Champagne Gold, has a removable lanyard, and puts its main controls on top. Apple and Android compatibility is listed, though USB-C lossless playback specifically depends on using a compatible device.

One practical limitation is that the supplied details don’t give the speaker’s dimensions or weight. That makes it harder to judge how much room it will take in a bag or how comfortable it will be to carry for a long stretch. It may not suit you if those measurements are essential to your travel setup, or if you need a speaker with more specific connection details than the listing provides.

Final verdict

The Beats Pill makes sense for someone who wants portable Bluetooth playback, a stated long battery life, and the option to use USB-C or charge a phone. Its outdoor rating and carry lanyard give it a clearer role than a speaker intended only to sit on a shelf. Choose it when that mix of mobility and flexible listening is useful, look elsewhere if you need confirmed size and weight before buying or want a dedicated stereo system from the start.
