ACSTEP A5031 Folding Step Stool for Adults, 400-lb Capacity, Black

Reaching a kitchen counter or a bedroom shelf is easier with a step close at hand. The ACSTEP A5031 folds for storage and has a carry handle for moving it between rooms. Its textured top and non-slip feet are designed to help provide grip. Buyer feedback on hinge durability is mixed, so reports of early breakage are worth weighing alongside the convenience.

Quick overview

This is a single-step plastic stool for adult use, with a stated weight capacity of 400 pounds. Its listed dimensions are 12.5 inches deep by 13 inches wide by 17 inches high, giving you a compact platform for tasks such as reaching a counter, bed, or shelf. The black finish and folding construction make it a practical choice when you want a step stool that can be put away rather than left in the middle of a room.

The top has a rubber-dot textured surface, and the feet have non-slip details. These features are intended to help keep the stool from slipping, but they do not replace using it on a stable surface or standing carefully. It has one step, so it is suited to a small boost for everyday reach—not a multi-step ladder for higher work.

Everyday use

The folding design and handle are useful in a home where the stool needs to move between places. For example, it can be brought out to reach a kitchen shelf, then folded and stored near a bathroom or laundry area when the task is done. The product details describe it as lightweight and collapsible, though no folded dimensions are provided, so there is no exact storage footprint to compare with a particular cabinet or gap.

Buyers commonly praise its compact size, sturdiness, and ability to fold away. Some also mention using it as a small seat. That feedback is not a substitute for the product’s stated purpose or capacity, and the item is described as a step stool rather than a chair. Reports about durability are less consistent: some buyers describe a sturdy feel, while others say hinges or folding supports broke early. That makes long-term durability less certain than the storage convenience.

Tips for day-to-day use

Set the stool on a firm, level surface and make sure it is fully opened before stepping on it. Keep your footing centered on the textured top, and avoid treating the non-slip details as a guarantee against movement. When you are done, use the handle to fold it and store it where it can be reached without blocking a walkway. If the stool arrives without its pin, the product information says to contact the manufacturer about a replacement.

Compared with a fixed step or small platform that stays out, this folding design favors portability and easier storage. A taller ladder or sturdier work platform would make more sense for jobs that require several steps or extended work at height, this model’s one-step format is aimed at short, nearby reach tasks.

When it makes sense

It makes sense if you want a compact step for everyday home tasks and expect to fold it away between uses. The stated 400-pound capacity, carry handle, and textured surface are useful details to consider, while the mixed reports about hinge durability are relevant if you prioritize confidence in repeated, long-term use. It may not suit you if your tasks call for a taller platform or a ladder with multiple steps.
