Playmobil City Action Police Diver with Treasure (72078) – 2 figures, underwater scooter & sea life
Product description
What it is
Playmobil City Action Police Diver with Treasure (72078) is a multi-figure underwater playset designed for imaginative role-play from age 4 onwards. The set features two diver figures, a functional underwater scooter, and a mini underwater landscape complete with corals, plants and three sea creatures, plus a pile of gold and jewels, plus pirate-era accessories.
What it offers on paper
On the surface, this is a classic Playmobil scene: a police diver chasing a thief through an underwater world. The gear includes a diving helmet, fins, arm guards, oxygen tanks and a snorkel mask, with a net basket or box option to carry stolen goods ashore. The set aims to encourage storytelling and cooperative play as children recreate a chase with a believable underwater environment.
What stands out
The playset goes beyond simple figures by providing a realistic underwater landscape and a transport option via the scooter. The inclusion of a treasure pile and jewels adds a clear objective to play scenarios, which can help with narrative development and sequential play. The two divers allow for simple police–thief dynamics that can be acted out with friends or solo.
Practical use and examples
If you prioritise open-ended storytelling, this set supports both rescue and pursuit narratives in an underwater setting. A practical use case is a child creating a “rescue the treasure” mission, practising fine motor skills when attaching the net basket or box and placing small accessories. The underwater scooter introduces movement mechanics that can translate into more dynamic play sequences.
Who it’s for and who it isn’t
This is well suited to children who enjoy imaginative police adventures and underwater exploration. It may appeal to fans of detailed storylines and collectible sea creatures. It may not be the best option if you’re seeking a more streamlined, minimal setup or a non-themed “ship-and-diver” style set with fewer accessories.
When it makes sense to buy
Consider this set if your child enjoys role-playing with a clear objective (recovering treasure) and you value a richer underwater scene for storytelling. It’s a reasonable choice for expanding a Playmobil collection when you want a combined emphasis on action, exploration and imaginative narratives.
What to check before buying
Verify that your child enjoys pirate-themed treasure hunts and police adventures, as the core idea revolves around a chase and recovery of stolen treasure. Take note of the age suitability (from 4+), and consider whether your child appreciates a relatively sizeable, multi-piece set with figures, accessories and a small landscape.
How it compares to other approaches
If you prefer simple, quick-play options, a smaller figure set with fewer accessories might be easier to manage. If you like the depth of a scenario-based play, this underwater chase with a treasure objective provides more storytelling hooks than a plain divers set. Within Playmobil, this format sits between entry-level scenes and more elaborate city or action sets, offering a balanced mix of narrative and play value.

Buying decision
Is it worth it? Worth considering if you want a richly themed underwater police adventure with a clear narrative goal, multiple accessories and room for imaginative expansion. It may not be the strongest choice if you’re after a compact, minimal set or non-science-fiction play themes from the same brand.
