LEGO City Yellow Taxi 60487 EV kit
Product description
A LEGO City Yellow Taxi EV model kit gives kids a hands-on build they can then play with, featuring an electric taxi model, removable roof, and extra accessories for story play. With two LEGO City minifigures included, children can seat the driver and tourist, explore the vehicle details, and keep learning as they construct the model step by step. 🚕
This LEGO City building set is designed for youngsters who enjoy toy vehicles, creative storytelling, and model making. It is also a fine motor skills focused set, because the experience of building and adjusting small parts naturally supports coordination. For parents looking for a small birthday gift idea for ages 5 and up, this kit offers a clear, engaging activity from box to play.
What matters most
This set centres on a bright yellow taxi model that kids can build and then bring into play right away. The model kit includes an electric taxi build with a GPS screen, a taxi logo, and advertisement stickers, plus battery stickers to add extra finishing touches once the car is assembled. As children work through the build, they can also start imagining mini stories, roles, and destinations that match the taxi theme. ✨
A removable roof brings practical play value. Kids can lift off the roof to seat the driver and tourist minifigures, then switch back when they want to change who is riding inside. There is also a boot area for storing luggage accessories, which helps turn the taxi into a richer play prop rather than just a display model. 🚗
The set also encourages exploration of vehicle functions. Kids can lift the bonnet to access the toy electric car motor, adding an interactive element that fits well with imaginative play and curiosity. Worth noting, the experience is built around assembling the model kit first, then using the features during role-play.
Key features
The LEGO City Yellow Taxi cab toy set is built for easy construction with guided support. It includes everything kids need to construct the toy electric taxi, including the vehicle pieces and sticker details mentioned in the set description. A key advantage here is how play-ready the model becomes once built, with multiple interaction points that help extend the use beyond the build session.
Children will have fun setting up story scenes with two minifigures. They can remove the roof to seat the driver and tourist, open the boot to store the luggage accessories, and lift the bonnet to access the toy electric car motor. That combination makes it easy to role-play everyday moments such as picking someone up and taking them somewhere.
For learning and progression, the LEGO Builder app supports the building journey. It guides kids through an intuitive adventure, where they can save sets, track progress, and use 3D instructions to zoom in and rotate the model. If you want a build activity that feels structured, this guidance can help keep momentum from start to finish.

Who it suits
It’s a good fit if you’re looking for a hands-on LEGO City set that combines building with vehicle role-play. You’ll like it if your child enjoys toy vehicles, creative storytelling, and exploring how a model works once it is assembled. It also makes sense if you want a smaller birthday gift for a 5+ year old who likes fine motor activities and step-by-step construction.
It might not be a great match if your child prefers very fast, no-build toys, because this set is designed around model building first. It also helps to keep in mind that it is part of the larger LEGO City range, so the fun can grow when you add more sets later, sold separately, depending on what your child already collects.
