Coleman Octagon 8 Tent Carpet
Product description
What it is
The Coleman Octagon 8 Tent Carpet is a soft, fitted interior mat designed to sit inside the Coleman Octagon 8 tent. It adds a more homely feel to the living space and helps create a warmer, more comfortable base for your camping setup.
Why it matters
On the ground, tents can feel cold and hard. This carpet helps insulate from the ground and enhances comfort for a longer stay, particularly in cooler weather or damp conditions. By providing a protective layer, it can also minimise wear on the tent floor and prolong the life of the vestibule area.
Material and build
Constructed from 100% polyester with a PU coating, the carpet is water-repellent and designed to resist dirt and stains. It is robust enough for frequent use and is made to fit precisely with Coleman Octagon 8 tents. The package includes a carrier bag, making transport between campsites straightforward.
What to know before buying
If you prioritise a quick, snug upgrade to interior comfort, this carpet offers a neat, purpose-built solution. It is tailored for the Octagon 8 model, so compatibility is a sensible consideration. The stated dimensions are 371 x 370 cm and it weighs 3.55 kg, which may influence how you pack and carry it for trips with limited space.
Pros and cons in practice
On the plus side, you gain a warmer feel underfoot, better insulation from the cold ground, and a tidier tent floor. The soft surface can make lounging and sleeping more pleasant after a long day outdoors. On the downside, it adds weight and bulk to your camping load, and its effectiveness is linked to staying within the tent’s specified footprint. If you regularly camp in very hot, dry conditions, the insulation benefit may be less noticeable.
Who it’s for
This carpet is well suited to campers using a Coleman Octagon 8 tent who want a more comfortable, homely interior and improved insulation against the ground. It suits those who value a tidy floor and are prepared to manage the extra packing weight.
Who it isn’t for
If you frequently camp in very dry heat or you’re aiming for a minimalist setup, this accessory may feel like more weight than needed. It’s also not a universal fit for tents outside the Octagon 8 family, so cross-compatibility isn’t guaranteed.
When it makes sense to buy
Consider this carpet if you expect cooler nights, damp pitches, or you want a quicker move from bare ground to a cosy living space. It’s a sensible upgrade for families or groups who spend extended time in the tent and prioritise comfort over packing light.
What to check before purchasing
- Confirm compatibility with your Coleman Octagon 8 tent model.
- Consider how you’ll pack the extra weight (3.55 kg) and its impact on transit or car space.
- Reflect on how much you value thermal insulation from the ground in your typical camping conditions.
Use in practice
Imagine waking up after a chilly night, stepping onto the soft polyester surface, and finding the tent floor warmer and less damp. The carpet helps define a cosy living area, especially where the tent’s interior floor has seen foot traffic and wear.
The decision (Is it worth it?)
If you prioritise warmth, interior comfort and a tidy tent floor, this carpet is worth considering for the Octagon 8. It may be less compelling if you tend to camp in hot climates or travel light and already travel with a compact floor mat. For a regular camper with an Octagon 8, it can offer measurable everyday benefits in terms of warmth and perceived home comfort, making it a reasonable value-for-money add-on. Think about how often you’ll use the extra insulation and whether the added 3.55 kg fits your travel approach.
