Arrow Video The Chronicles of Riddick 4K UHD Blu-ray, Region Free

Benefits

The 4K UHD Blu-ray format gives The Chronicles of Riddick a place in a physical film collection, with a region-free designation for added flexibility when choosing where to watch it. This is the 2004 sequel to Pitch Black, bringing writer-director David Twohy and Vin Diesel back to the science-fiction world of their breakthrough film. For viewers who want to follow that connection, this edition puts the next chapter on a dedicated disc rather than focusing only on the original.

The story sends Riddick, the eponymous antihero, to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Its expansive scope makes it a natural choice for a science-fiction film night, while the action-led approach gives the sequel a distinct identity within the series.

Highlights

The appeal here is the reunion of Twohy and Diesel after Pitch Black, paired with a much broader setting for Riddick’s story. That background is useful if you are choosing between revisiting the original and moving on to its sequel: this release centres on the follow-up and its galaxy-spanning direction. It also suits viewers who enjoy tracking how a director and lead actor continue a science-fiction story beyond its first film.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray format is a defining part of this edition, and the region-free label is relevant when adding it to a collection that spans discs from different regions. Together, those details make the release easy to identify as a physical edition of The Chronicles of Riddick, rather than simply a general listing for the film. It makes sense if you are building a Riddick collection, returning to the series after Pitch Black, or selecting a science-fiction sequel for a home viewing session.

Getting the most from it

For 4K UHD playback, use a compatible UHD Blu-ray player and display. The region-free designation gives the disc regional flexibility, while compatible equipment remains the practical requirement for watching it in its stated format. Once set up, it is suited to a focused film night or to taking its place alongside Pitch Black and other science-fiction titles in a physical collection.

The film’s 2004 release and its connection to Pitch Black also provide helpful context for choosing it: this is the sequel, with Twohy writing and directing and Diesel returning as Riddick. If you are introducing someone to the series, that relationship helps explain where the film sits, if you already know the original, it identifies this disc as the next instalment to add.

Is it worth it?

This Arrow Video edition is a considered pick for viewers who want The Chronicles of Riddick itself on 4K UHD Blu-ray, especially fans of the original film and collectors following the character’s story. Its region-free designation adds practical appeal for disc collections, and its sequel status makes the choice clear: it is for continuing the journey beyond Pitch Black, with Twohy and Diesel returning to a larger science-fiction setting. Choose it for a dedicated physical copy of Riddick’s 2004 follow-up in the 4K UHD format.
